Anonymity during a Court Case 18th October 2016 1:18 PM

I don't think it has ever been right.... especially if there is a possibility of a compensation payment......... Obviously abuse is not right, but we now live in a world of compensation and rich lawyers..... What I don't get is why all this abuse only affects people 20, 30 or 40 years later.... seems strange to me...

Computer Updates 18th October 2016 12:48 PM

Well the recent update has all but killed my computer, was nothing wrong up to this update. This particular computer actually does say no ...... and switches off....

The price of goods will rise and fall regardless of us leaving the EU.... Unilever supply a whole range of retailers not just Tesco, so the same 10% mark up would have also applied to all of these other outlets not just Tesco.... with the influx of Aldi and Lidl on the high street, consumers will just head to these outlets where the goods predominantly come from the EU..... No 10% rises at these places, so you have to ask why not..... probably just to do with marketing on behalf of Unilever who managed to get half their products listed in newspapers yesterday. Makes no difference to me, have never had marmite in the house....

Computer Updates 14th October 2016 3:05 PM

I just wish all these companies would ask the users if they would like to update their computers, rather than just doing it automatically. Apple have also done it on the iPad and I now have a display that wasn't there before which needs to be swiped twice before opening up the main screen...

Customer refusing to pay?! 14th October 2016 3:01 PM

If you've provided goods and services, then you are entitled to payment regardless of whether they arrived late or not. If the goods failed to arrive within a reasonable period of time then your client could have cancelled, if they accepted the goods on arrival and didn't return them, then they have no reason to withhold payment or refuse to pay and assume the goods would be free... take them to court... have been 5 times lost 1 won 4. The reason I lost one was because the judge turned around and said I was not allowed to charge my customers a mark up on the goods I sold.... I'm still trying to get my head around that 15 years later.....

I think having either one of them is more frightening than us leaving the EU.... I was siding with Trump, but with the recent disclosures surrounding women, I just cannot see him winning even if only 10% of it is true..... Definitely one of the worst US elections I've seen and will certainly only be in for one term whoever wins...

Do you like being asked to leave a tip? 10th October 2016 4:59 PM
You went to a little thief? What did you expect

I confess to going full circle about tips. I used to be 100% anti tips with the standard lines of "I don't get a tip in my job" or when given the low wages sob story, "go get a better job!"

But maybe it's me getting older, or the fact that tipping is now embedded in our culture, but I now expect to pay a tip. But I'm also a lot more likely to complain and asked for a reduced meal price if the service or food hasn't met our perceived standard.

So I'll happily tip, but you need to get all the meals out at the same time, include all the things on the plate I ordered, it needs to be hot, and taste as good as I expect it to. Otherwise no tip, and a discount on the bill.

Sadly, these basic prerequisites are rarely met, to the point now have to we read back the order to the waitress/waiter as we are bored of people getting it continually wrong

It seems even with the review culture we live in, so many (and particularly chain pubs/restaurants) seem to care.

Reading between the lines.... I'm guessing you don't tip very often....

Not one for giving tips.... But I do like to write the occasional review...

Pound crash 7th October 2016 1:31 PM

Yep apparently it was a rogue trade and was cancelled... This is what happens when you have algorithmic robots trading or a banker who wants to make a very large quick buck.... All at the expense of others as they would have lost huge amounts, some could have been wiped out and I doubt whether they would have been compensated regardless of whether the trade was cancelled or not...

I think someone mentioned on question time that just by having the name UKIP has prejudicial / racial connotations... And their probably right, but all of the political party's will have their own bigots yet are far better at covering it up. I think as far as UKIP are concerned, if they wish to survive they need to re-brand themselves and dump the idiots at the helm. I have never voted UKIP and doubt whether I ever will. But there is nothing wrong with having nationalistic views, I think they served a purpose and I think the country needed them to bring the other political party's into line with what the UK citizens wanted ....
