Well I may have to go back to the bank as the money was taken by direct debit, and if I cancelled that direct debit with a particular company it should be impossible without my consent to set up another direct debit even with auto renewal insurance policies.

So 9th December 2015 12:01 PM

You get your motorbike nicked, not the end of the world and no sleep lost over it, telephone the police and insurance company, weigh up the odds of paying the excess and what you'll get back for the loss after the insurance company has taken of the devaluation of the bike. Decide not to claim and write to the insurance company the bike has been stolen, tell them I would stop the direct debits and cancel the policy. Six months later the insurance company automatically starts taking direct debits again, not once a month or even a week but four times a day @ £70.00 a pop which goes on for 2 weeks without my knowledge until I went to pay for groceries and was declined. Now the insurance company has said I cannot put it in writing that I am cancelling the insurance, I can only do this by telephone, personally I have never heard of such a stupid statement. I then asked them how it is possible for them to set up a new direct debit after I cancelled it with my bank..... Well apparently they can if you are on auto renewal, today after three weeks of them, as they put it 'looking into the matter' issued them notice to refund the lot or legal proceedings will commence within 5 working days...

Another search on the internet and there is untold complaints about this company mugging of bikers through the direct debit scheme which goes back to 2009.... Think I need to start researching all companies for 'complaints' before I have dealings with them.........

Sending a forum group hug

Well that's more than what I got from the other half.... she just says stay away as she considers me to high risk... Got a feeling she thinks she married Mr Beans brother...

Personally I think the right decision was made and was certainly impressed with Hilary Benn's passionate speech. I think sometimes the UK involves itself and gets involved in other countries political conflicts far to easy, usually the argument is down to oil or some other commodity although no government will ever admit to that. But this is something different, you cannot have either a religious or political group parading people in front of cameras and chopping of heads, limbs, chucking them of buildings or teaching children to kill adults who are tied up and blindfolded, sit back and say it is nothing to do with us. After all these victims too are innocent. I also take the view that these brainwashed children who are now also killing, will eventually turn into adults and they to will have children, although it goes against everything a normal sane human being thinking, I have no problem with the entire lot of them being wiped out of the face of the planet, but I do feel extremely sorry for these children of having their innocence robbed from them.

I think the bombing of Syria should be relentless and non stop 24hrs a day 7 days a week until this evil group are eradicated, yes innocent lives will be lost, but far more will be lost otherwise. This isn't a group of people where you can sit around a table sipping afternoon tea talking about peace plans...

I can honestly say that the last 6 months has left me physically and mentally exhausted...

Vehicle Insurance 3rd December 2015 3:40 PM

I could have arranged the van hire myself for between £30 - £40 per day instead of the insurance company's which equated to £109 per day. Now, my van I insure through a company called Adrian Flux (the broker) the insurance itself is underwritten by Qudos (the insurance company) claims are handled by ULR Additions who arrange the repairs through their so called approved garages, I've never heard of them until now, but a quick search makes interesting reading The very idea of being sued by solicitors for not fulfilling a referrals quota is a joke in itself.

Having just spoke to ULR Additions on the phone once again, they are trying to pressurise me into to using the same outfit as the last one. I have told them I am unwilling to go along with this as the previous repairs are still unsatisfactory, they replied that they have other approved garages and vehicle hire outlets. I have told them that I will pay the excess and will supply them with 3 quotes and will hire a vehicle at a reasonable cost.... All she could say was " have you got any whiplash injuries?" complete joke......

Am I right in assuming something is not quite right with this? My van was involved with a non fault accident. The insurers asked me whether I would either like to pay the excess or use another company whereby I would not have to pay the excess as this company would handle everything. I opted for the second option. They would also provide a temp replacement vehicle. Now originally they did not have a vehicle to loan so had to hire a vehicle from a third party. They have just sent me an invoice to pay the vat element of the vehicle hire, paying the vat is not the issue but the breakdown of the bill is.

Hire of Renault Trafic 17 days @ £66.17 / day

Hire of Ford Transit 27 days @ £66.17 / day

Insurance arrangement fee @ £10.00

Temporary additional vehicle fees @ £652.96

Delivery charge @ £50.00

Collection charge @ £50.00

Collision damage waiver @ £330.00

So for 44 days vehicle hire the bill has come to £4004.44 plus vat making a grand total of £4805.33

The repairs were never carried out to my satisfaction and now there is awful knocking on the drivers front wheel and keep promising to get back to discuss this which they never do. And now due to the bus sandwiching me between it and park cars they want a second stab at the cherry........

THE HOGGING OF THE LANES ON MOTORWAYS 2nd December 2015 10:10 AM

To be fair, London bus drivers were always quoted as being some of the best drivers in the world and probably rightly so. But nowadays they seem to have replaced your stereotypical 'white van man' either gesticulating or shouting verbal abuse at other drivers... Maybe they think that all the CCTV cameras they have placed on their buses gives them some kind of protection.... even last night I came across a bus going down a road on the wrong side and flashing his headlights at me expecting me to move.... not a chance...

THE HOGGING OF THE LANES ON MOTORWAYS 1st December 2015 4:27 PM

Talking about the hogging of lanes and dare I say bus drivers..... Whilst driving home last night a big red bus decided to sandwich my vehicle between itself and a load of parked vehicles. I now have go faster stripes down both sides of the van, half a dozen cars lost their wing mirrors. The bus driver decided to just drive off... Like you do, so I had to chase him from MI6 headquarters to the Oval cricket ground, even flashing my headlights at him he refused to stop, in the end I had to overtake home and just jam on my brakes....fortunately buses now have cctv all around them so the best s company called today and took full responsibility..... Just another day in the life of Barney...

I'd be interested to know what the colour 'black' has to do with it.... Asked several merchants on Friday and everyone replied "dunno mate"!
