THE HOGGING OF THE LANES ON MOTORWAYS

I don't think it is possible to change peoples mindsets on which particular lane they drive in. Some will always drive in the outside lane, some in the middle and some in the inside... Not really sure that it is much of an issue, if you go on the M25 all 4 lanes are blocked at certain times of the day. From memory coaches and lorries were restricted to 60mph on a motorway, so the only people hogging the middle lane would be fellow coach drivers and truckers......What annoys me are 2 lane motorways such as the M11 and a lorry or coach decides to overtake the vehicle in front, which then takes around 10 minutes to carry the action out as the overtaking vehicle is doing around 2mph faster than the vehicle it is overtaking... subsequently causing a 3 mile tailback for all us van drivers...

Thanks,
Barney

From what I've seen, lorry drivers tend to be the worst road hogs on motorways. How many times have you seen a lorry right up the backside of a car, or really close to the back of another lorry?

Obviously apart from the lorry and bus drivers past and present here who are obviously super professional

So true! Lorries are the worst!!!

Feel the need to re-address the balance and make reference to certain parts of our society who make lipstick adjustment and general make up amendments whilst driving

Talking about the hogging of lanes and dare I say bus drivers..... Whilst driving home last night a big red bus decided to sandwich my vehicle between itself and a load of parked vehicles. I now have go faster stripes down both sides of the van, half a dozen cars lost their wing mirrors. The bus driver decided to just drive off... Like you do, so I had to chase him from MI6 headquarters to the Oval cricket ground, even flashing my headlights at him he refused to stop, in the end I had to overtake home and just jam on my brakes....fortunately buses now have cctv all around them so the best s company called today and took full responsibility..... Just another day in the life of Barney...

Thanks,
Barney

Oh Barney - between us, we should write a book !

To be fair, London bus drivers were always quoted as being some of the best drivers in the world and probably rightly so. But nowadays they seem to have replaced your stereotypical 'white van man' either gesticulating or shouting verbal abuse at other drivers... Maybe they think that all the CCTV cameras they have placed on their buses gives them some kind of protection.... even last night I came across a bus going down a road on the wrong side and flashing his headlights at me expecting me to move.... not a chance...

Thanks,
Barney

I was in Central London a couple of weekends ago, scared my fiancee to death how some people drove.

I went nose to nose with a Bentley as he was trying to cut in to my lane - err i dont give way!

Keep safe Barney.

You really do need to take up a new occupation, preferably a home worker with no vehicles or boilers involved

Forget the book, Barney the movie
