Starbucks 17th October 2012 12:13 AM
How or more to the point why does the HMRC continually allow companies such as Starbucks to avoid paying their due taxes? How is it possible for a company to trade in nearly every town across the UK at a loss, avoid paying any corporation tax, yet still manage to pay dividends to shareholders? Companies such as Starbucks will have far fewer problems raising money from a bank which have been bankrolled by the UK taxpayer than a small business that actually does pay all it's taxes.... It stinks to high heaven and the more of these large companies that hit the headlines about how they avoid tax, the more I'm convinced HMRC is involved in helping them.... There are just far to many of them nowadays for it not to be so...
So What Would You Do with an EMD? 16th October 2012 7:40 PM
Following on from the other thread, what would you do if you had one? It seems many have and not poor quality spam sites either. So I currently have one, and it's been wacked big time by Google, in fact it is virtually nowhere to be seen. But thankfully I have another site so full of spam and rubbish Google loves it so much I haven't spent any money or time on it for over 3 years or so and it generates a steady income. Last month I spent another
Farewell to the Vulcan :( 16th October 2012 12:17 AM
I use to watch this plane perform at Farnborough air show, as a boy it looked pure evil in the sky and it still looks mighty impressive today. Should they keep it and preserve it? Depends on you viewpoint I guess, if your nostalgic and remember it flying at what seemed a 100ft above your head and could remember the roar of the engines in your ears weeks after it had flown past, then yes it should be kept... British engineering and design in it's hey day and at it's best.... Now we just get excited about the next cyclonic hoover to hit the market..
any one use google adwords 15th October 2012 11:48 PM
Just out of curiosty, what do you have to do to become Google certified at adwords? Tick multiple choice boxes in a test paper? I'm just curios as qualifications these days seem to hold less weight and credibility than they did of years gone by.... I'm PCI DSS certified, ticked a few boxes and paid
I'm suprised the OFT has taken so long in finding this out... They could start with the Governments DVLC website...
I did read somewhere that if a review was completely glowing without any negativity that the chances are that it would be a fake. I also believe that just like handwriting, people tend to leave their trademark footprint / bad habits behind whether it be poor grammar or spelling so these reviews are easy to spot. I think if a customer is bothered to review a business directly then it is in the businesses interest to get the customer to write the same review on a review website by sending them a link rather than editing and posting themselves...
What are the percentage of fake reviews on this site?
I know just by reading reviews of competitors on Google places that many if not the majority of the reviews are fake, especially when customers use heating / plumbing related terms that ordinarily they wouldn't know of.
Free Index use a good system whereby if a review is submitted by the same IP number as the business owner it is highlighted for the reader to see that it might possibly be a fake review...

How Nice to see 9th October 2012 9:44 AM
Being a bit of a chav I popped into Asda's last night the amount of birds flying and chirping away suprised me a little, the staff seemed to think it was perfectly Ok. It just seemed funny to me seeing starlings perched on the freezers without a care in the world...
Cold calls 9th October 2012 9:30 AM
I personally hate cold calls, if I want something that you might be selling that is of interest to me, I'll get in contact with you, if you contact me you would have just wasted your time and money. Recently I have been bombarded with automated cold calls from insurance companies for around 6 weeks now, they know my public liability is due for renewal in November. When answering the telephone all you get is a recorded message asking you to dial another number to get the quote. All this does is get the customers back up, so they certainly would not get a sale from me...
