Never made a penny out of me
I do not believe that the vast majority of Facebook users log in to find a business or a tradesman either locally or nationwide. The majority of people use Facebook to leave messages for the next door neighbour, friends and leave content about what they have just watched on television, what they have just had to eat, how they are feeling and so forth. To me Facebook and similar sites is a social meeting forum, without actually being social. In fact if some of the stories in the press are to be believed, the site are probably more anti social than social.
The businesses / organisations that have lots of 'likes' i.e. cats protection get these via their main site and not because people stumble across them on Facebook, so once they've been 'liked' the Facebook page looks popular but the reallity is, is that people have only ever visited it once just and only to give it a 'like'.
I honestly believe that those touting that every business should have a Facebook page because 'social media' is the future are doing so, either to top up their own bank accounts or because they've been brainwashed by seo hype. I don't know of any business that gains financially from having a Facebook page, I might be wrong. But I would not advertise on Facebook anymore than I would have a ppc on Yahoo. If your looking for something you Google it and as much as they've recently peeved me off lately, there is no getting away from that..

I hate the term 'niche market' it kind of makes the whole thing rather limited don't you think? Have you tried the bank of mum and dad?
The terms 'could' 'should' 'and may' will never convince me enough to part with money

I'm a little bit confused as to how a company can just suspend trading in it's shares when the price starts to drop. They never seem to suspend them when they go up. Anyone care to explain?

I would love to know how a business continues to trade, whilst it's declaring losing millions of pounds, small businesses go to the wall for making a loss of a few thousand....mainly down to the continuous harassment from the HMRC. I think there should be a level playing field across the board. Maybe there should be an investigation into the HMRC's working practices, on the one hand you have business secretary's and the Pm saying the Government are helping small businesses no mention of the grief that they will have to deal with through HMRC. At the moment every organisation in this country with a little bit of power comes across to the layman in the street as being rotten to the core and corrupt.... I sometimes wake up in the morning and think whats the point, it's just one big constant battle, what confuses me even more is why people still want to come to this country....
So What Would You Do with an EMD? 17th October 2012 12:31 AM
I'm quite happy to just leave it for a couple of months and see what happens, I'm certainly not going to be spending anymore money on SEO for a while, the site is doing ok on bing / yahoo although I'm not sure people actually use those sites in great numbers...
