“Hold on a couple of years Ray, and you can have a
Google Car
”
Well the google car looks better than the one I have just been to see in Leicester,
i saw the car on auto trader, asking price £6500, it looked exactly what I was looking for. Checked the dealers website ( very slick) and got his number. I explained I was about 100 miles away and could he confirm the description and price was correct (to avoid a wasted journey). The dealer said "yes" it was a very accurate description and he was willing to let me have the car for £6100 because I was such a nice chap.
like an idiot, I jumped into my car, drove to Leicester (3 hours), on route the dealer called me to say his office was being refurbished and could I go to his house? Too late to say no (I was almost there) I arrived at the address given.
i found the car on this blokes drive, he gleefully handed me the keys.....
drivers electric window not working, "I will get that fixed he said"
passenger electric window not working "I will get that fixed he said"
both front tyres almost bald "I will get that fixed he said"
no radio "I will get that fixed he said"
Car not taxed since October 2013, "I will get it taxed today he said"
I asked for the service manual/hand book, he argued the previous owner had serviced the car but didn't bother with the main dealer stamps.
i firmly said I was not interested and he had wasted my time, he replied ok "I will get the car serviced and fix all the faults" and let me have the car for £5,500 and could I possibly leave a cash deposit?
i asked if he wanted to make a contribution towards my petrol costs, whilst my wife quickly and assertively marched me back to our car. I think we got to Sheffield before I stopped swearing.
Fecking car dealers have no soul.....
