Ok Renault is out even though I don't carry tools.

I would love a camper van...but can't afford it.

looks like we are going to look at the Nissan over the next couple of days.

the decking is on hold, literally trying to stop it floating down the fecking garden...

Thanks,

Thats almost funny except the Renault traffic van is designed to be a van, ie used for commercial use, so surely its purpose in life is to carry tools or whatever up to its max carrying capacity.

I believe that in Renault case, they actually start life as vans and then you have to adapt them, they arent sold as campers, but with all the extra weight thats added as part of the conversion process this would be no different to carrying tools

Hold on a couple of years Ray, and you can have a Google Car

Well the google car looks better than the one I have just been to see in Leicester,

i saw the car on auto trader, asking price £6500, it looked exactly what I was looking for. Checked the dealers website ( very slick) and got his number. I explained I was about 100 miles away and could he confirm the description and price was correct (to avoid a wasted journey). The dealer said "yes" it was a very accurate description and he was willing to let me have the car for £6100 because I was such a nice chap.

like an idiot, I jumped into my car, drove to Leicester (3 hours), on route the dealer called me to say his office was being refurbished and could I go to his house? Too late to say no (I was almost there) I arrived at the address given.

i found the car on this blokes drive, he gleefully handed me the keys.....

drivers electric window not working, "I will get that fixed he said"

passenger electric window not working "I will get that fixed he said"

both front tyres almost bald "I will get that fixed he said"

no radio "I will get that fixed he said"

Car not taxed since October 2013, "I will get it taxed today he said"

I asked for the service manual/hand book, he argued the previous owner had serviced the car but didn't bother with the main dealer stamps.

i firmly said I was not interested and he had wasted my time, he replied ok "I will get the car serviced and fix all the faults" and let me have the car for £5,500 and could I possibly leave a cash deposit?

i asked if he wanted to make a contribution towards my petrol costs, whilst my wife quickly and assertively marched me back to our car. I think we got to Sheffield before I stopped swearing.

Fecking car dealers have no soul.....

Oh dear Ray, can feel your pain.

Actually thought about changing my car 2 weekends ago. Did exactly the same, rang the garage, explained i was 100miles away but happy to drive down to Milton Keynes on the basis the car was as described.

Got there to discover it was a bag of bones and hadnt even been valeted!!! Exactly the same as you Ray i was not a happy chappy, only i didnt have anyone to stop me ranting, so he got both barrels, reloaded and gave him 2 more.

This was main dealer Audi too !

Having read the second paragraph of Rays post I thought he was going to tell us he'd been shafted and sold a stolen motor. Not in a million years would I pay 'cash' for a motor, not even from a dealer and I would certainly pay someone like the AA or RAC to do a thorough check both on any outstanding finance / whether its a possible cut and shut insurance job / stolen / and service ability... Might look OK and reasonable on the outside, but then again so did Dr Shipman! What I know about motors you could write on a postage stamp, I know nothing that's why I would pay for someone who did...

Thanks,
Barney

No worries on that score, I am a true yorkshire lad. Even if the car was perfect the dealer would still need to use a crowbar to get me to losen my grip on the cash....
