No Salt & now potholes! 14th January 2010 1:27 PM
Was reading this article earlier -Why is snow so bad for potholes - see the full arfticle here BBC News - Why is snow so bad for potholes?

Having read for the past few days we are running out of salt & grit seems we have something else to worry about. Must admit driving around the roads in my local area I have hit several large & many more smaller potholes.

With reading another article about people complaining their roads aren

Food handling cert I can do at nightschool, supposed to be pretty straightforward.

Permit stuff, no idea, I thought you just found a pitch! Guess will have to research that

Insurance, can't be too bad, any ideas garde?

You cant just turn up on a site and start cooking, all hell would break loose lol

Insurance off the top of my head you will need, Public Liability, vehicle insurance that will include the risk of fire form the cooking and some sort of traders policy but things will have changed since i left the game 4/5 years ago. I used to insure a lot of showman/fairground workers and they were forever saying how expensive the insurance for their wagons & food trailers were so do investiagte this before getting the van/trailer

Trust me, from someone that worked at a well known fast food burger chain, flipping burgers 12 hours straight gets mighty boring even if the money was ok! Are you really sure you want to do this 5 or 6 days a week in all weathers?

Personally I think you may have bitten off more than you can chew - ok cheap joke

Well from our last conversation you will know about insurance now anyway lol

Just remember that there are all sorts of licences required for trading on the street and also Health and Safety issues to trip over, you cant buy and van and pitch up so to speak so you will have plenty of homework to do before you can even flip a burger

Wish you all the best with your venture though

Snow - whats the cost? 7th January 2010 10:11 AM
My father was a teacher and if my memory serves he was always in school in most conditions, and he lived around 20 miles from his school. My brother is also a teacher, have to admit I don

very interesting, but quite worrying. I hope VAT doesn't go up to 20% I'm not planning on becoming VAT registered to start with, and any big rise will make me more expensive to my clients.

Wont your competition be just as expensive though as their VAT will also increase?

So I was talking before the New Year about our local lack of snow - ok it hit last night & we have had around 3 or 4 inches.

Local schools are shut, looks like ive got to cover looking after my boys tomorrow morning unless they open or unless I can get a friend to look after them for me. Joy an enforced half day off! (don

Theo makes some interesting comments - yes we are in for an election but personally speaking Politicians seem as bad as each other - they all promise us something to get our vote but that seems to disappear when they are in power - but as I cant be bothered to vote half the time I cant complain who is in power.

Interest rates and VAT could go up again but when, is that a reason for not starting a business - again personally speaking the reduced VAT rate recently didnt curb or encourage my spending pattern. I was amused when the High Street stores were pronouncing pre vat increase prices - ok im off to buy my new laptop now because i save
