UK House prices rise by 5.9% in 2009 6th January 2010 12:59 PM
Good point! Plus last time I used a masonory drill, I watched it melt its way through the carpet after I put it down

memory still haunts me

Steve remind me never to ask you for help with the decorating

Some very interesting arguments here both for and against credit.

Would love to be able to walk in to a shop with a pile of cash, but with 2 kids and an ex wife to support those days are sadly over, hence I need my 12 months interest free.

As cash seems to drip through my fingers, my preferred weapon of choice is the credit card, but I make sure its paid back each month, plus I get a cash back bonus each year, ok its pennies but as my dear old granny used to say - "look after the pennies & the pounds will take care of themselves"

I dont mind playing the winter as long as its not raining as you soon warm up

Hmm i can think off plenty of other ways of keeping warm without chasing a golf ball - yep you guessed it - stay in front of the log-fire
Oil prices to rise 30th December 2009 1:27 PM
Oil prices are set to top $80 a barrel in the New Year, more on this here - BBC News - Oil price rise nears $80 a barrel

This has prompted fears of the price of fuel topping
Insurance - help? 30th December 2009 1:09 PM
Hi John25

I was actually a broker for 15 years so can help a bit, although the FSA would frown on such advice lol.

Best bet would be to contact 2 or 3 brokers in your area, they should ask all the relevant questions and as long as you answer them all fully & truthfully then they should be able to get a quote from an insurance company in a day or 2 (least it took that long when i was doing this). They should also be able to establish what policies and types of cover you require, for example are you a simple office that just needs Employers & Public Liability cover with office equipment on top?

I wouldnt rely on 1 broker as its always best to shop around, again in my day different brokers had different schemes in place so you need to make sure you get the best policy that suits your needs.

Be aware of any fees on top of the premium although the FSA rules now mean brokers have to disclose any fee they charge in addition to the commission they earn
So what happened to our 6-10 inches? 30th December 2009 12:54 PM
So went to bed last night and it was snowing fairly heavily. Great I thought especially as I had to be up at 6am to drive to Worcester to take my girlfriend to work. Got up this morning not a flake to be seen on the ground despite the weather people saying we would all be snowed in last night, even got up early to clear the snow off the car, as you can imagine not happy that I could have had an extra 15 mins in bed.

Why is it that we don

Can I Get Opinions 29th December 2009 11:26 AM
Hi

Im talking here generally and not in anyway knocking the site you have mentioned as I have not looked in to the offer they are making

Im always wary of any kind of get rich schemes, in my personal opinion the only way to get rich quick is to work hard and reap the rewards, so its not really a get rich quick plan.

Im no great fan of any of these plans but thats not to say that there are not some good ideas floating around out there but for every good one there must be a hundred bad ones.

The multi level marketing. pyramid schemes - what ever you want to call them - again in my opinion the only people who seem to make a lot of money are those at the top level of the scheme

Whats your highlights of 2009? 23rd December 2009 1:27 PM
Dont think you can top the arrival of your first child.

My hi-light, my eldest son getting a poem published, fantastic SAT scores (no idea where he gets his brains from lol) and a glowing report from his school.

The youngest has to work that bit harder but still so proud of his achievements and accomplishments and this years report shows he has been trying - sounds just like his Dad

Looking forward to watching MLS grow from strength to strength next year
