PostsSmall businesses are the UK's greatest advantage - says FSB Chairman 4th July 2014 10:23 AM iTit 4th July 2014 10:22 AM Other than saying speechless if it is, actually dont know !! I'm erring on the side of doubtful but who knows in this crazy world Londons skyline set to change 4th July 2014 10:18 AM Quite like the prospect of the changes and yes they look good but wouldn't like to live anywhere near London - just far to much traffic. Living some 20/25 miles south of Birmingham albeit in the built up area of Redditch, traffic is much lighter and there is still plenty of green space - in fact there is a huge field behind my house, where my cat spends her days mousing & catching pigeons! Google Fancy Dress party! 4th July 2014 9:58 AM Was hoping to see how that couple got on from last week ....... When greed takes over ... 2nd July 2014 12:56 PM Was reading the news and a story grabbed my attention - a man can keep his aunts £350,000 house DESPITE her will leaving it to several animal charities. Appears he managed to convince a judge that his aunt changed her will on her deathbed. The actual story really is irrelevant to my point, but money & families always seem to argue over a deceased inheritance. My father died just over 6 years ago, myself & oldest brother were appointed Executors of his Will. Without going in to great detail i had to carry out his wishes as per his instructions, one point really struck a chord with me BUT 1) it wasn't my money 2) his wishes were carried out as per his last request, what right do i have to challenge that - regardless of what that wish was? Whats the point in leaving a Will if you can then challenge that Will just because it doesn't suit you, or you are not financially gifted by said relative? Customer Service - thoughts? Is it getting better or worse? 2nd July 2014 12:24 PM Oh dear oh dear oh dear Saw on the news earlier - Natwest have had to apologise after a customer service adviser rang one of their customers who had filled in a survey, left a message on the voice mail asking him to call back, then didnt disconnect the call and went on to state he was a "knob" and carried on with other insults about his financial position. The bank naturally have apologised and are now looking in to the problem. To be fair we have all done it, left a message for a customer, put phone down and then commented to a work colleague, probably even sworn about them ..... TOP TIP - make sure the line is dead before you do say those things you cant say to the customer!!!! Warning - following post contains Star Trek references 2nd July 2014 11:58 AM Outed at last - knew we'd get him !!! Millions hit by Microsoft cybercrime action 1st July 2014 4:12 PM Interesting article from the BBC, seems Microsoft has tackled cyber criminals head on by seizing control of 23 domains it suspects has been spreading malware. Appears to have been a bit of collateral damage too with reports that millions of users may have been stopped from visiting some clean sites. I'm all for a bit of proactive approach to stamp out malicious viruses, hope that the people affected by Microsofts positive move are of the same opinion, or would they rather have their machines full of bugs? Google Glass - The future of the internet... now! 1st July 2014 3:19 PM Well resurrecting this thread as they are now well and truly here! Ok the price tag is a bit steep for main stream but be interesting to see if they really do take off as anticipated. Was glancing over the news over lunch and noticed that the head of the Cinemas Exhibitors Association was calling for Google Glasses to be banned in cinemas in the UK. Not really sure why as it has a relatively short recording life. It also lights up like a Christmas tree when it does record so its fairly obvious if someone is using it. Waiting with anticipation to see if the association or Google come out on top ! Epping Primary School bans lunchtime football 1st July 2014 1:30 PM Really interesting article i was reading over lunch BBC News -Epping Primary School bans lunchtime football Pupils have been banned from playing football at lunch for certain "inappropriate" behavior. Pupils were warned about bad language and being rude to staff, so the school have banned it until the next school year starts. Parents arent too happy, insisting their kids can do what they like in their free-time. But why should staff be subjected to bad language and the like? They were warned they would lose it if they carried on - they did - its over ! With kids emulating their so called heros (not a word i would use for an over paid footballer) its even more imperative that such players should behave on the pitch and any such action, like Suarez's biting, should be harshly punished to get the message across to kids that they cannot behave how they like and actions have consequences. Imagine you have a foul mouthed rant at your boss/co-workers and then sank your teeth in to their shoulder? Don't go past go & pick up your P45 on the way out ! |
