As already mentioned this did not have that much to do with the economy and more to do with poor management over a few years.

It should also be noted that only one division of the company were put into Administration and not the whole thing. They have 3 distinct divisions, it was the public one that got into trouble.

I advised a sole trader a few months back when they were having problems getting their loans restructured. He was in for
Not sure if it is getting worse. There has always been grumpy people about in business. The world is full of rude and obnoxious people, you have probably just been unlucky to find so many of them in a short space of time.

A lot of people do put up the defenses if they feel they are going to be sold to, some people just take it too far.

As for non or delayed payments; nothing new, debtors prisons should make a comeback
Neg Equity is bad, but it is only a nightmare if you want to move. If you bought your house to actually live in and not as an investment then you just have to live there.

I can see the % of home owners going down and the rental market getting larger in the next few years.... opens up some business opportunities.

Not a chance.

I only found out last week that the house we are renting at the moment has a swimming pool in the garden! It is hidden under a huge raised decking area....

With the social media portion put to one side for a second....

Is it really getting any worse or is it just that more and more of these stories now get into the press because people now know what identity theft is?

This has been going on for donkeys years, ever since there were banks or masons and wot not. I bet the first person that ever made a list of people lost it at some stage.

At some stage the kids at school are going to have to take a "social media" class, teaching them what they can and should never talk about online.
How to Improve Visitors??? 27th August 2010 9:54 AM
A mix of PPC and organic SEO (Don't ask, I read it somewhere ) will do the trick. For any PPC get help or at least ask questions to people who have been successful with it, you will find a few on the forum.

You want to make sure you are getting the right type of visitors to your site so that your conversation rate is decent.

Social Media is also a good start. If you have time, do it. If not, outsource it.
There is one in Ashford. Not quite in the high street but not too far away. A few weeks back they had a coffin in the window that was painted to look like the union jack/flag. I took a photo and put it on my Twitter....

I really hate chasing money. It's worth potentially losing some business not to have to do it.

Nah....

Work out the maths first.. the cost of losing some sales v's outsourcing the collections.

Chasing money is not fun, building relationships by pro-actively talking to customers about their orders and their happiness and oh, btw the cash IS fun because you can learn more about them and maybe sell more to them as well.

Intel buys McAfee... how much!!! 20th August 2010 5:31 PM
I can't say too much.. as I am still on the payroll but.... there is a very good reason why they have done this and if you look at the previous software company they bought it underpins a serious chunk of the market they are going after.

The person that signed the deal has been given multi billions to throw about and she very rarely gets it wrong.
