Are there real similarities between actual marketing and internet marketing? 23rd February 2012 6:20 AM
That's a good similarity I think. I try to do this when I write, but given the topic and my niche, its not always easy to put a fun spin on things.
Why can't SEO's be performance based? 23rd February 2012 6:00 AM
Hmmm, generic maybe, but i don't think its all that bad to be honest.
You just need to personalize it, and make it your own. I love the logo, so incorporating colors from that into the site as well could be good, even if its just for headings, links etc.
You could go the way of wordpress, mean more and more use it as a site and not a blog, and there are millions of customizable premium themes out there, or you could get a developer to code one for you, or DIY if you're good at php.
Or you could just spruce the old site up with a new layout, some jquery image sliders, and color. Either way, I don't think you should give up on it.

Olympics business impact 23rd February 2012 5:51 AM
We were all worried when we hosted the fifa world cup, but in the end it ran rather smoothly. I think that things like these do disrupt a little, especially when plans are being laid out to accommodate it all, but in the end it can be really good for business, especially ones that are close to where the games are being held.
Guaranteed page 1 of Google - 22nd February 2012 7:15 PM
6 months, hmm. It would depend on the amount of searches your keyword gets a month and competition. It can seriously take anything from a year or more to get a page one rank, unless the competition is so low that you could build backlinks naturally and easily and that should rank you quickly because you have more links than your direct competition your niche is extremely competative, so there are a few straigh facts you can glean from that. Everyone in your niche is constantly and actively building backlinks. The big wigs in your competition have been around for ages, so their sites have a really big head start. So you will have a lot of catching up to do. IMHO because of those two factors, the guys that made you the offer are either going to use automated tools, or borderline spam tactics, or worse, which could harm your site and business reputation before its given a head start.
The best advice I can give is to try yourself, like everyone here said. Get your site optimized, make sure your content is written to engage visitors so that they want to like, tweet, or share your site, and half the battle's won. Become active in forum communities, and use signature links, and use video and social media. But use them firstly to market products, and get your target audience's attention. IMHO. Good luck with your site though. I hope it all works out

Is Facebook a Useful tool 22nd February 2012 10:07 AM
It can be, if you use a fan page or an app of sorts. A custom fan page seems to be the trend nowdays, but facebook has taken the FBML code out of the works. Usually you could create an app for a fan page using the code, but its all moving over to iFrames.
best thing to do about that, would be to build a mini site or "canvas" of your fan page in html, javascript etc., host it on your own domain, and then link it to a canvas application using FB developers. What then happens is that the canvass app loads the page everytime someone accesses your fan page, and they can then see everything you want them to see, laid out the way you want it to be and not just a default FB page.
It's kinda complicated in the beginning, but i can find a few good tutorials that could help you through it, if you like.

Microsoft patch blocks google 22nd February 2012 9:56 AM
hmmmm, I wonder if this is retaliation of sorts with the battle they had at one point about bing copying google's search results... (conspiracy theory number 1

Cloud CRM Solution - Anyone else gone this way? 22nd February 2012 9:33 AM
Needs to watch her words very carefully for fear of advertising....
Having something cloud based might be a good thing. But then again I am obviously biased. Anything specific you were wanting to do with the CRM?

Client relationships 22nd February 2012 7:51 AM
Why not use both? I mean people are always going to want free stuff of some sort, so backing that up with awesome customer service seems like a winning strategy to me.
I mean, you can't give a client a pen when they are asking you about serious account problems...(they might just hurt you with it
