Hi Everyone,

Thought this upcoming webinar might be useful for some members in the forum who are interested in gearing up for the Olympics.

The webinar is on 28th Feb at 12:30pm. It's going to be a joint effort between Cisco, the BBC, BT and Adecco and we'll be looking to examine the ways in which employees will want to watch the Olympic Games in the workplace and the impact that this will have on business efficiency throughout the London 2012 Games period.

This might be beneficial to business owners that are members of the forum. So if you want to learn something new on your lunch break next week register now: bit.ly/yCqMYQ

But it's actually an interesting point, and the webinar seems genuine, so might be of interest: Media Webinar - Work - Cisco London 2012

But webinar or not, so for any UK businesses, is anyone genuinely worried about the impact of the Olympics?

Maybe either staff watching it, or more likely lack of customers because they are watching it? Possibly supplier problems, obviously transport issues if you around the London area.

Or maybe spin it and its a chance for increased revenue as you cash in on Olympics mania?

Transport, will be the main issue and everyone one knows it. The thing is most businesses travel into London on a daily basis. I travel 17 miles into Central London on average this takes 2hrs if there is either a breakdown or an accident you can put another hour onto this. The Met Police do little to help but worsen the situation by closing down another lane and then popping back into their 4x4 and doing very little else. So you'll have 3 lanes of traffic be forced into 1 lane. This happens on a daily basis and within no time at all you'll have a tailback of traffic of 15miles or more at 6am in the morning. Now imagine what it is going to be like when one of the lanes is set aside for so called VIPs for the Olympics and it's not just while the games are going to be running, there having a trial run first, I think I read that there is a

We were all worried when we hosted the fifa world cup, but in the end it ran rather smoothly. I think that things like these do disrupt a little, especially when plans are being laid out to accommodate it all, but in the end it can be really good for business, especially ones that are close to where the games are being held.

Most of the work for this project went to foreigners, any local businesses in the area that were in the way were forced to close. Most people I know are dreading the idea, more so now because of the financial climate, They've built another multi shopping complex bragging that they've created another 20,000 jobs although at the expense of all the local shops that have been around for years. As for the roads, they may well have built a new 4 lane one way system around Stratford but the majority of Londons roads are still stuck in the same centuary as Londons sewage system and that can't cope either.....And that's why you don't go swimming in the Thames.

Seriously? We had a few concerns about that, but in the end it wasn't all that bad. I'm not one for swimming in rivers though, its overcrowded . As for traffic, we did have a few modifications done to roads and highways etc.
I can imagine the scene with the mall though, it would have been better to just have shops in the areas renovated or enlarged, then they could still create more jobs, and other businesses wouldn't suffer as much, but that would still impact business owners having to pay for it all I guess.

I think the Olympics will inject revenue into the British economy and also create a platform for other business opportunities. The Olympics serves as a way for the UK to market itself to the world.

Olympics should be good for the sponsors.

Hello Ryan

This isn't a Cisco promotion forum So I've just removed your latest Cisco webinar.

If you contributed regularly to the forum, then you would be very welcome to add these webinars in the Village Market forum.
