Careers this is exactly what happens here as well. My husband just recently got a job after being unemployed for nearly two years. He worked for four weeks at the college he attends as a part of his internship...he made $300 over the course of a month and they cut all of the benefits we had been receiving off.

It's a shame that the powers that be over there can't look over here and see how it is not working! I guess all that they can see is the dollar signs!
Psychometric Tests for Job Seekers 29th November 2013 4:41 PM
I think that these tests are beyond stupid, and here in the US they are highly overused. Many people have been kept out of a job that they would actually be good for because of these stupid tests!
Well, right now the social media marketing I am doing is not for my own business but for my parents. They are trying to start a small crafting business and I am trying to promote it hard here before Christmas. So far I have only spent a few hours on it, but Steve's signature reminded me that I need to set up a Pinterest page for it too...guess that's what I am doing next.
Is it Black Friday today?? 29th November 2013 3:56 PM
Well, I am over here in the US and it is a huge deal here. Many stores opened at 6pm last night and have had shoppers and long lines ever since. My Facebook feed is filled with pictures of "friends" who have apparently lost their minds and gone searching for great deals.

The last time I did it was two years ago and it was so bad I swore never again. I would rather pay more than risk life and limb for a little saving. The only reason I did it last time was because my daughter wanted a bike for Christmas. They were regularly $125 at Walmart and for Black Friday it was $30. We got one, but it was a task and people were fighting everywhere!
This is a current hot topic of debate in the US as well. The problem is many people make more collecting benefits than they would if they did work, add to that all of the "jobs" created under this administration pay minimum wage.

Minimum wage is another hot topic because no one can live on the minimum wage, much less support a family with it.

I am in the US but I gather from reading this post that this is the first time private business is getting into the probation industry?

Over here, at least in my area, everything relating to criminals is run by private industry with the exception of parole. Creates a lot of red tape and the right hand never knows what the left is doing ...in this case where the probationers are even located, much less what they are up to.
Should the US and UK intervene in Syria? 29th November 2013 3:42 PM
Do you mean like Iraq, you think it will be left in chaos afterwards? Suppose that is the risk

Exactly like that! We can't just perpetually police nations who can't or won't step up and do it for themselves. Particularly in Syria's case, you have so many internally warring factions that anything that is done is almost guaranteed to be undone as soon as we take a step back.

What about some kind of referral program? Like when one of your customers recommends you to someone else the referring customer gets 20% off of their next purchase or something of that nature?
I haven't used YouTube as a marketing avenue myself, but I have seen so many business that have I think you would be completely remiss if you ignored it. There are a lot of ways that you could use it as a boost to your business.
