I've used many 'smaller' providers e.g Dreamhost, Media Temple, Slicehost etc to name a few. I wouldn't move from AWS now, it's really the best hosting solution out there in terms of reliability, price and features. Unlike the hosts I mention that have web UI's and control panels, AWS is really designed for folks with sys. admin experience.

Exactly, online or digital, is marketing now. This is evident when you consider digital now makes up around 50% of marketing spend, with physical marketing spend being the remaining 50%.

The trend will continue to move to digital so if anything, marketing will be digital and vice versa.

I like it. I'm finding I use much more of the product now due to the improved layout and clustering of information in the layout.

If you look at mobile phone usage, I think you see why Blackberry is losing share. Phones were used mainly for phone calls, text (SMS) and email e.g requiring a physical keyboard.

The move to social networking and apps on mobile phones is probably the underlying reason why Blackberry is losing. They've made some great products but that's a problem too - they've dwelled on past success rather than thinking about what's next.

Is KFC not number one in China? If this is the case, they're pretty well positioned IMO, especially in comparison to Burger King and the other typical fast food chains. The real success story of the last few decades has been the rise of 'healthy fast food', guys like Subway. They sell us the 'health' aspect despite their food being worse for us than KFC.

In terms of the health side of fast food itself, we always hear KFC and the burger chains are unhealthy - they are off course relatively speaking. What's worse though is the sandwich chains - humans evolved to eat meat and plants, bread is the real killer. (and sugar off course, of which there's plenty in bread)

Disney, despite this flop, are doing fine. For me, they should be looking in the future towards gaming, which is clearly going to be the biggest segment of the entertainment industry. In this respect, franchises like Angry Birds are the 'new toy story' in this respect.

I don't have a personal story but Zappos is a good case study. Their people actually encourage conversation with customers, which is contrary to the traditional 'call centre' where the objective is speed/efficiency.
