KFC's growth seems to be dominated in emerging markets, and now Ghana is the latest recipient of the KFC brand.
But an interesting article from Businessweek shows that the Brand is in serious decline in its home market.
"For Ghanaians, the Colonel, who just arrived in September, is a symbol that their small West African country is now on the map...
More than 5,000 miles away in New York,
They just need to change their cooking methods, maybe work on a few healthy foods etc. The ones we have here (I think there are about 4 or 5 here alone) aren't all that bad, but then again I haven't been there for while either. ![]() ![]() They have been around for a while. Maybe all they need is a few tweaks here and there, and a few campaigns to get their PR back up. Thanks, Dreamraven
I most definately have shared your experience of poor quality KFC burgers (I think part of the problem of this is the shear size of burgers like the zinger, and zinger tower burger). In the UK KFC are trying to slightly redefine their image, they have adverts on TV with young women at home eating KFC. Unfortunately this is a highly unrealistic approach on a target market that I think KFC doesn't really understand. Young women these days a massively weight and health conscious so instead of trying to plug the same types of food that they feed to the man that doesn't care what he eats why not try a different angle. To the best of my knowledge KFC doesn't have any salad orientated options which is a major mistake considering the bad rap that fast food has received in the last few years. At the moment I go to KFC when I feel like something that is a bit dirty, and can be ordered by the bucket load ![]() SharClar
I do wonder if they dropped the Kentucky Fried Chicken to a simple KFC to see if we forgot it was deep fried chicken ![]() Kentucky Grilled Chicken with salad hasn't got the same ring. Maybe it's me, but even when you're in a lardy mood, A bucket of KFC just doesn't look appetizing... Now dominoes pizza, that's a different story... mmmm ![]()
I found a much better alternative over here. I live out in the middle 'o nowhere, and to drive for about ten to twenty minutes just to get KFC or pizza seems a little nuts at 7 in the evening. There's a local restaurant over here that is a gem. They have a burger.... match made in heaven actually. ![]() Thanks, Dreamraven
“...its every single one of their burgers (about 7 of em) combined into one huge thing. I would take that over KFC any day. lol” mmmm sounds good, though not helping my diet ![]()
Is KFC not number one in China? If this is the case, they're pretty well positioned IMO, especially in comparison to Burger King and the other typical fast food chains. The real success story of the last few decades has been the rise of 'healthy fast food', guys like Subway. They sell us the 'health' aspect despite their food being worse for us than KFC. In terms of the health side of fast food itself, we always hear KFC and the burger chains are unhealthy - they are off course relatively speaking. What's worse though is the sandwich chains - humans evolved to eat meat and plants, bread is the real killer. (and sugar off course, of which there's plenty in bread) Thanks, Lion
I quite like a good old KFC when in the right mood. Can vary a bit from one franchise to the next though - especially withe gravy! KFC gravy done well is amazing!!!!!! Not well and it's a bit like a chicken stock cube flavoured gloop. Azolla
'Tis not. They don't call it a monster burger for nothing. Takes one almost 2 days to finish, and they still give you chips with it. It's like they're trying to taunt you. “I quite like a good old KFC when in the right mood. Can vary a bit from one franchise to the next though - especially withe gravy! KFC gravy done well is amazing!!!!!! Not well and it's a bit like a chicken stock cube flavoured gloop.” Losh, don't get me started on the gravy. There is nothing better than that gravy on one of their hot mini loaves. I have to admit though, here the KFC's are really good. No bad service, no over oily food. To be honest, if I had to choose between McD's and them? KFC would truly win hands down. Thanks, Dreamraven
Shame on all who eat KFC's factory farmed chickens ![]() |
