Yes good blunt article. All very true. A good reminder even if you're already developing your small business.
Completely agree with Steve. Spot on. I think for most small businesses that online advertising is better for the lower budgets. It can be much more targeted and it is very measurable......
Yellow Pages set to default on loans! 20th February 2013 2:12 PM
I think their business model is seriously flawed and the writing has been on the wall for a long time. Game over for them I think. No point in them dragging things on much longer......

I don't seem to have a problem with ideas - time is the main factor. Before you know it the day is drawing to an end and your "to do list" is longer than it was at the start of the day!
Employing good staff I think is vital - when you can afford to do so and also when you can identify good calibre people.....
My plans seem to shift over time when I find out more about the business I'm in and the related ideas......

That's a shame - that site was offline when I just looked. I think guest blogging can be effective though (I just need more time to do it!)
Technical website question 22nd August 2012 9:46 PM
Thanks very much for your offer of help. I've just sussed it out and it wasn't a problem with the code after all. The second site is with a different hosting company and it was an issue with this hosting company.
I've now tried it with a different hosting company again and it works perfectly.

Once again thanks for offering help - much appreciated.
Technical website question 22nd August 2012 5:35 PM
Hi. I have a quick technical web question.
I have a current website that works just fine and I have a form on there to get customer enquiries. These enquiries come through to my email address no problem and I know enough to be able to change which email address the enquiries go to if needed.

I am creating another website using the same template but for some reason when I test the form I am receiving an error on the webpage. I can't work out why since at the moment the websites are the same and I am about to change the second one (apart from some details and the enquiry form).

Can anyone advise me as to what the problem may be. Only a very small website and I can forward the files for somebody to look at if I am not overlooking some small thing (as perhaps I am!)
Help appreciated. Thanks.
Google Account Access 2nd July 2012 9:16 AM
I use Google Adwords and although I do OK with it I know I'm not utilising it as well as I could. So I thought it may be a good idea to talk to a web company about my PPC Google campaign.
Somebody emailed me back asking for my Google client ID and then they'll be able to acces my account and have a look.

I wasn't sure about this. I have the credit card details and all the company info on the Google Adwords account I'm not cmfortable with somebody I barely know having access to this.

Does anyone know the situation here? Can I give access without them seeing the credit card details, etc, etc?

I realise they need to look at my account to see what can be improved. Any advice much appreciated. Thanks.
Adwords good or bad? 22nd May 2012 9:41 PM
Negative keywords is definitely something to be aware of. You can waste a lot of money on non-relevant licks if you don't use negative keywords properly!
Same as Steve I was also wondering how effective article writing was these days.
I knew somebody who had a few sites on Page 1 of Google and he said it was mainly down to article submission - multiple article submission to multiple sites including some spinning.
I'm not sure if this is so effective now?
I did a few articles about a year ago and submitted to 3 or 4 sites and it didn't seem to have any impact on my Google ranking from what I could see.
