Obama to break up banks 22nd January 2010 10:47 AM
European banking shares have dropped following President Barack Obama's far-reaching plans to curb the activities of the biggest banks in the US.

BBC - Peston's Picks: Obama to break up banks

So I have been reading pestons pick's this morning about Obama proposing to split the investment banks from the retail banks in the US.

I dont have a a problem with this as I see the intrisic link between using depositors money to make risky investments is a problem.

What I do have a problem with are the amount of people crying wolf over the banks collapse.

We as a consumer based society need to take some responsibility, if the banks had no markets to make the profit then this would not have happened or at the least would not have been as bad.

In my head it equates very easily do you have a mortgage or loan that was key to buying something that was an emotional decision rather then a logical decision. if so then stand up and be counted the banks offered the cheap credit and you took it end of.

What do people think will happen if the banks in the uk are broken up in this manner and the profit margins on retail banking drop.

Here is my opion of that. All the risky loans will be pulled over night and the AER will soar regardless of the BOE rate, leaving most of the uk HOUSEHOLDS with a financial hangover that a full english and a aspirin wont fix.

Oh dear, Twitters down again 21st January 2010 1:04 PM
only twice and only today.
I was begining to think it was my new twitter wallpaper.
I totally agree and thats my point but you will still see the socialist frenzy form labour start over the coming months in the run up to the election.

The back stabbing about labour being the old boys club and the rest of it.
I am not a die hard fan of any of the partys but my beef with labour is the fact that they are meant to be a socialist party.

so you tell me what is socialist about high house prices, postcode lottery for schools, perscribed medication lottery and being part of the european union.
The second biggest communist regim on the planet.

The list for me goes on and on. Torys dont try to be socialist they are jammed full of the old boys club so at least we know we are dealing with a bunch of cads and cant deal with them accordingly.

I will always stick by my opinion Brown and co are just Torys in labour overcoats.

and that fact that none uf us voted the ( insert copious amounts of expletives here) into power.

Grrrrrrrr
Rantometer is off the scale again.
I am looking for a Firefox Forum Blocking tool as we speak as I can feel the rantometer maxing out.
You are a bad man Steve.

Politics and econonomics my ranting sweet spots.

Tory all the way. They pulled off a blinder with Cameron.

Tory whip:

Tory whip:
You boy whats your name

Blair lookalike:
Cameron sir

Tory Whip:
congrats your the new tory leader.

Politics is won on marketing not policy.

apart from my geeky self who on here actually times to log on to the appropriate site and review the relevant party's policy. I woudl hazard a guess at not many.

Cameron also takes the womanhousewife vote purely on his aestetics and family man persona.

look at Charlie Brown for god sakes he has the charisma of a Sweaty Gym Sock (did you like what I did there)

Damn you Steve
I am ranting away like a man posessed.
