One of the best ways is by writing and submitting good quality articles. Utilise your writing skills and submit to a select few article and pr websites such as:

ezinearticles
goarticles
amazines

that way you will get backlinks and exposure as well as traffic, if you have made it interesting enough. Also make sure you use anchortext links ( your keywords ).

Link building, such as bookmark submit, write articles, press release,submit directory,link exchange.

Start your link building campaign by doing online directory submission. You can either do it by yourself or hire a professional SEO company to do it for you.

You can also leave blog comments on dofollow blogs that has posts relevant to your site. Do it consistently. One or two backlinks a day is good enough if you do it everyday.

AS the black magic that is known as SEO is all new to me I am finding this thread to be very interesting and extremely useful.
