The Internet ruined my life 15th January 2010 9:21 AM
(MONEY Magazine) -- Recently the number of options for wasting time on my computer reached a critical mass of craziness. E-mail. Blogs. Social networks. Podcasts. E-books. Three full seasons of Lou Grant on streaming video.

When work got stressful -- pretty often in this economy -- it was all too easy to click over to Facebook. I found myself blowing deadlines and growing irritable and jumpy. It was taking more and more effort to shut off the noise and think. I needed to reclaim my time.

Sandwich/Burger van business 12th January 2010 1:41 PM
probably not quite what you are thinking about.
But when I worked at birmingham business park we used to have a van that pulled up outside everyday so you could nip out and buy a sarney.

here is the point I was trying to make they food was locally produced and was always full of said ingredient (fruit cake was jammed full of juicy raisins for instance) and were of generous portion size and his prices were spot on.

The Q for this van was always huge.
fREE lESSONS - How you doing so far? 12th January 2010 10:00 AM
we have been under 2 feet of snow in the uk for the last 10 days so not too good atm.
This strategy will also depend on what Obama has got to say as he had proposed a green automotive bill dictating Co2 emissions and most of the yank tanks will be banned straight off.
Resisting Twitter 11th January 2010 12:12 PM
I have to agree with Steve here I never really understood twitter until I started using it for business leads and then it clicked for me and it is very powerfull. you can see immediate results.
dont start me on MS I spent an hour on the phone the other day trying to explain to the injuns that I did not recieve my parcel.
it went something like this.

Me:
I have not recieved my parcel
operator:
Why not
Me:
I dont know thats why I am calling you.
Op:
but we shipped it
Me
Great I did not recieve
Op:
so on what day did you recieve it
Me:
I have not recieved anything
op:
so you have not recieved it
me:
No
Op:
so what day was that then
Me
are you trying to wind me up
Op:
Sorry Eddie
Me:
Who the hell is Eddie
Op:
You
Me:
when can I have my replacement part
Op:
We have already shipped it

and alas it all started again form the start of the conversation.

Then when they actually agreed that I had not recieved it they sent me a form to fill out staring with
HI Eddie
Many thanks for contacting us please could you detail your problem.
I have always admired Branson and what he has achieved
The one thing that always set him apart from the rest of the blue chip bunch was his customer service. Unfortunately this has severely slipped over the years and I just labeled him as another ran.

There was a customer satisfaction survey carried out by one of the big comms forums recently and Virgin media came second to last after Orange.

now for 3 to beat you the service has to be bad.
twitter good for SEO? 8th January 2010 1:31 PM
I am with Steve on this one twitter is very good at keeping your brand visible.
when I have a slow day on the forum I can output a couple of content related tweets and I can generate 50-100 hits in minutes.
