There are good reasons why so many (20,000) are remanded into custody before trial, previous convictions, risk of re-offending, seriousness of crime, whether they are a risk to themselves or others, potential sentence (your hardly going to turn up at court if you are looking at a 10 year stretch) The arguement of innocent until proven guilty by a jury sometimes goes out the window when as in this case the evidence was blatantly obvious.....
PostsShould killers get whole life tariffs? 2nd April 2014 9:23 AM Bugs and Issues 2nd April 2014 9:06 AM Just a quick question? Why am i taken onto chrome when I log in? Or if I use internet explorer I only get a 1/4 page of MLF. And finally the previous forum had auto spell check I think, now I'm having to put a capital I instead of i, which I know is lazy but certainly helpful Oh yes one more question, have we now done away with requesting a particular service, for instance if I'm looking for a mobile web designer (which I am) where would or could I make such a request? Thanks..... Nuts magazine and website look set to exit the Young Mans Lifestyle Sector 2nd April 2014 8:57 AM Can't say that I've ever read these types of mags, so I can't say I'll miss them..... Cheaper weekly shop! 18th March 2014 6:23 PM Hmmm talking about food, I went in a 'Tea shop' in Kensington last Friday not sure what the difference is in that of a Tea shop and a caf Standard Life may move if Scotland says YES 1st March 2014 1:23 AM You know what? I have no feelings towards Scotland one way or another, in fact I don't even think about the country, I've always thought of the United Kingdom as being one country. I think they have far more to lose if they do decided to break away and become independent, I'm not even sure what they have to gain by becoming independent. My main concern is where we're going with Europe and the sooner we have a referendum the better........ 1 in 7 UK workers are now self employed 21st February 2014 11:43 PM I think much of it has to do with the benefit cuts and people being forced into doing something with their lives / time. If they have been out of work some time / years then they are going to have great difficulty getting back into mainstream employment with many knockbacks at interviews and that's if they manage to get an interview. You now also have the 40 - 50 year olds who in recent years have been made redundant who are going to find it difficult to find employment either through age discrimination or their reluctance to take a job at a lower level than what their use too, so many of these will also turn to being self employed. What I have also noticed is that many businesses are now only using people on a sub-contract basis or on zero hour contracts. Well someone on a zero hour contract may only be required for 1 x 8 hour shift in any given week, so it takes them of the unemployment register but they are hardly in employment either. My concern is what many people who will have to work into their 70s will end up doing, they can't all end up working for B&Q. I myself work in the building / construction industry, I don't know anyone in this field of work who will be capable of working in this industry in their 70s, most will be past their sell by dates and most will have tired and worn out bodies. Ocado - yet to make a profit after 14 years! 4th February 2014 11:18 PM I can not see how a business can make continued loses over a 12 year period and still be in business. I would have thought the shareholders / investors would want heads to role? Email outreach? 3rd February 2014 12:05 AM I think uninvited emails are a pain in the backside. As far as I'm concerned if you have something that maybe of interest to me then I'll find it and make contact with you. Also I don't see why I should have to 'unsubscribe' from a mailing list when I never subscribed in the first place and secondly you then after having unsubscribed still get inundated with the same emails. As to cold calling via the telephone I tend to be very verbal with the caller ![]() Community Inspiration for 2014? 2nd February 2014 8:59 PM Well, I've been on my back with flu since Boxing day so I've kind of missed January altogether. So my intentions for the year will be to offload some of the work I do onto others. I'm toying with the idea of having a dedicated sales rep as I can end up having to visit several different properties a day and it does seem to take forever ping ponging emails on enquiries and so forth. I'm also considering taking on an apprentice. General enquiries are pretty good, however turning these into actual jobs is somewhat difficult as customers generally have no idea of the cost of materials or the time it takes to install heating systems. I've kind of given up on Twitter and Google + for the time being as for me it is far to time consuming although I frequently get new followers on Twitter on a weekly basis, I'm not entirely sure what they are following as I haven't written anything for nearly 2 years on there. As for Facebook, I'm currently paying around Should killers get whole life tariffs? 2nd February 2014 11:06 AM I'm all for whole life tariffs, with a whole life tariff the person in jail always has a glimmer of hope should there ever be a miscarriage of justice and this country has seen plenty of these over recent years. My issue with the death penalty is, is the fact that the state would have to employ a killer or a person at least who is willing to kill another person, even if it is done by automation you still need someone to push the button or flick a switch and for some reason I can not see how one killing is morally right over another whether it is endorsed by the state or not. Having said that, you then have the Lee Rigsby's murderers where it is carried out in full view of the public and it makes you wonder why they were not taken out by the police in the first place. |
