There are other similar websites of my competitors with far less content but still appearing on the first page when typing "hairdressers in milton keynes".
I dont understand why
Stop worrying on that point, far too many people only get their home page on there, it is actually better to go to a page within a site than the home page anyway.

I dont mind being directed to one of the pages within the site
I just dont understand why it suggested the page where the keyword is not mentioned at all
When I type "Haircuts in milton keynes" my web site surprisingly appears on the first page pointing to my wedding hairstyles page. where this phrase is not mentioned at all.
The keyword "haircuts in milton keynes" does not appear neither on this page no on the whole site at all.

But when I type the keywords I have designed the whole site for, my pages dont appear in the first 10 pages of the google search results

How should I understand this?
I struggle to follow the logic

Do you mean that when people type in stylebylina.com you do not come up in UK search?

I mean when I just type "stylebylina" or "stylebylina.com", it does not come up in the UK search.

Keep it simple as Steve has said you have alot of Keywords in your tags also your description is the same on all the pages,

Take the time to look at the basics drop me a line if you need some help, I love doing this sort of thing so wont charge you

Hi Kevin, I am not sure I understand you correctly. "doing" what?

I am not sure what I need to do. I am going to write more content anyway when I have time. I guess you mean I should have more content to cover all keywords in the meta tag right?

I have put the verification line that was requested by google webmaster tools, will see what happens.

I think I have found the answer here:

But I am still confused about what you said regarding the number of my keywords, can you explain?

SEO wise, you have an awful lot of keywords (147) versus very little SEO friendly text (48 words).

You got me confused now.
I thought the more keywords in the content the better.

I am not sure what you are trying to say there

Would it actually not be better to have all headings as H1. And the paragraph as normal?
Why is it necessary to include H2?

Another thing is I have been looking through the websites of my competitors in the area whos content is far smaller than mine, but their link appears on the 1rst page in Google search

what search term do you put into google, so I can replicate it.

Since my SEO at a not acceptable level yet...
I just put "stylebylina" to see if my site is there at all.
If I use any other related keyword, my site is not found, so I use the actual domain name just to see it has got indexed by Google.
So it does appear in the global web google search bu not in the local UK only search
