Cheers Guys

Im gonna rebuild my site again add some more specfic text and get rid of alot of the gumph!

Hi kevin. Im no expert on the site building thing by no means. my first site was my first creation.
Also i know nothing about your industry, the people you are tryng to attract.

Hope this can help in some way fror you to stream line your site. with the basics that i thought about and used.

my product, all be it, its all sold in this country, from scotland to cornwall, a good UK spread you would think.

But i have to cater for the 5 continents of the world. As my cutomers come from the 5 continents, asia, africa, europe and so on.. not that i would transport to those continents, But all them cultures are here and working and living..

So my site was made to be simple for everyone, But means alot more hard work.

I could have had a page for frozen fish, and had 10 sub pages, im sure peeps would get bored looking for what they want, average time on a page can only be a few seconds before they click off and go somewhere else.

So i have 30 something pages all listed on the left, which every culture can click into on there chosen product.

It meant creating 30+ pages
with 30+ links on every page
120+ photos
120 add to cart buttons+ telling each button what it did.
setting up payment options.

But it meant i can target every customer, no matter where they from, on the home page. once in that page they find what they want, they have the same list of options to pages on the page they are on.

They dont want to go back to home page and start again.

dont ever think your site is done, you can add update, tweak things every day as i do. Its never done

Blogs - Do you really read them? 22nd March 2010 5:54 PM
I think marry has hit the nail on the head with this one.
With my business, a blog would make no diff to me, as if i had a some special offer to run, it would have to be on my site, for pepps to click and think thats a bargain and buy.

on the personal note, which is info about something, something for people to come and read on how something is going, that they have an interest in, i think its a great thing, like mary said.

How good are your backups ? 21st March 2010 1:01 PM
I dont know the workings inside my magical box on the floor next to me

I dont have to many files to back up as my home pc is for home, the one i have at work, is mainly for invoices. and statements. i also print 2 copies, one for customers and one for there boxfile.

anyway, my mother has many many files on her comp as she teaches computers as her job. she has many different classes and writes her own work books.

so when buying her new pc, she had 2 extra hard drives fitted, one to back up, and another to back up weekly, its does it automaticly.

thats the jist of it i think from what i know, so when bying a pc, when its important for your daily work. you dont do the same.

The blog has been part of the internet now for many years, how many here read one on a regular basis and if you own and run one do you update it regularly and do enjoy doing it or is a chore?

Dont even know what a blog is really, as i dont read them. not something i have seen to be of interest.

I think virtually marry is a blogger, she might be able to answer this one. but i could be wrong lol

Hey Guys

Just wondering if anyone has any advice? Recently my work load has slowed right down to the point I have no jobs on.

I am trying to find new ways to generate business any ideas?

Hi kevin,

I do feel for you. Over the last year we have gone from 5 members of staff down to 2.
I think what has happened in the market place, is companies have now used up any spare cash they had over the last year. probably getting through january and febuary.
the bad whether we had, lack of money after xmas, have to pay december bills of the back of the worst 2 months in retail. which has a knock on affect to everything. Customers savings are running out.

Thats what im hearing in my line of work, from suctomers and other companies we deal with.

others may have other ideas on the subject

Hi guys, here is a quick video tutorial on how to add alt and title tags (and why you should) to your website images.

This is a very powerful SEO trick, if you have 25 images on your website, this can add 75 new key phrases to your SEO and ranking

Adding Title and Alt Tag Video Walkthrough/Tutorial

what is a title tag on pics, cant put code on my site as my host does not have that facility.

sound was ok on my comp, i do use head phones though. as missus watches the soaps

Customer Service, well lack of 19th March 2010 10:19 PM
the down fall with customer service, is the one we all know, call centres being moved abroad. we all know the countries, so need to mention that

the second point which is my biggest rant, is that your talking to people, who have never stepped foot in the country, knows our culture or how we go about things.

one quick example before i go on. had TV and internet fault. Did the usual stuff we all know, unplug for so many seconds and and plug back in, to save time you tell them this, but because they are reading from a screen, they insist you do it again.

What we have lost is what i would call the named person. someone who's name you have, can talk to again and again.

i signed up to parcel force for our home delivery, got email from named person. have dealt with same person all the way through my contract so far. First class service, i even took time to email head office to say what a good job this person had done.

it went along way to helping my customer servce rep, also, she made a speacial help to help me out when i asked a question,

but most important, she had the knowledge of my contract history.

had many couriers contact me, but parcel force for me rocks. and my parcel force rep.

if your thinking about a courier, i will let you know who to contact, if you PM me.

Near 14 hour day 19th March 2010 7:53 PM
How I see it, we work these hours to get more than the rest of the rat race get, why worry about your wages covering the bills, earn more!

We get to decide on our incomes, the more we do the more we get, though it may not always seem like it, its all about the end result!

i second what you have said, But i think we all do it as well because we all have a passion and a drive in our chosen business or proffesion.

As a small company, its already crippling us the the fuel charges. 25% of our shop trade is local home delivery, ok its local and a round trip to one customer may average 25 miles.

We now have to decide how we do this side of the business, as prices drop on our products, we also drop the prices. Lest take an average minimum order. of
