“Hey Guys Just wondering if anyone has any advice? Recently my work load has slowed right down to the point I have no jobs on. I am trying to find new ways to generate business any ideas?” Hi kevin, I do feel for you. Over the last year we have gone from 5 members of staff down to 2. I think what has happened in the market place, is companies have now used up any spare cash they had over the last year. probably getting through january and febuary. the bad whether we had, lack of money after xmas, have to pay december bills of the back of the worst 2 months in retail. which has a knock on affect to everything. Customers savings are running out. Thats what im hearing in my line of work, from suctomers and other companies we deal with. others may have other ideas on the subject sean sean44mc
Thanks, I know It just such a pain ![]() Thanks, Kevin.Wiles

Kev, what is your core area, are you a web designer, SEO consultant, or a marketeer? You offered recently free websites to build up your portfolio, which was a great idea, have you had a chance to finish any of these? On your site, you list your services, but you seem to be offering everything. Brand, PR, SEO, SEM, advertising, ecommerce, website design, video design, copywriting. A lot of these are specialist fields in their own right. Maybe visitors to your site are a little confused as to where your strengths lie? If I look to your previous clients for reassurance, designer clothing london looks ok, but birmingham builders goes to a 404 page when you look at their services, focus ecology looks unfinished, and jobs in stratford is a dead link. Dont mean to be harsh mate, but you really need to help yourself, decide what you are, then big that up and showcase yourself. If I want a web designer, I expect him to do a bit of showboating as his home page is his shopwindow. Likewise, if I engage an SEO consultancy, I normally like them to lead by example and have proven examples I can search on. All your listed services are in a very competitive field and your competition is fierce. So I'd specialise and start competing, or look at strategic partnerships with local firms. I don't believe in saturated markets, you just need to better than most of your competition. The downside with online businesses is the low entry cost and the abundance of overnight back bedroom operations undercutting on price and quality. Reputation is the name of the game and counts for everything. For that you need testimonials, feedback and previous happy smiling customers.
Cheers Guys Im gonna rebuild my site again ![]() Thanks, Kevin.Wiles
“Cheers Guys Im gonna rebuild my site again ![]() Hi kevin. Im no expert on the site building thing by no means. my first site was my first creation. Also i know nothing about your industry, the people you are tryng to attract. Hope this can help in some way fror you to stream line your site. with the basics that i thought about and used. my product, all be it, its all sold in this country, from scotland to cornwall, a good UK spread you would think. But i have to cater for the 5 continents of the world. As my cutomers come from the 5 continents, asia, africa, europe and so on.. not that i would transport to those continents, But all them cultures are here and working and living.. So my site was made to be simple for everyone, But means alot more hard work. I could have had a page for frozen fish, and had 10 sub pages, im sure peeps would get bored looking for what they want, average time on a page can only be a few seconds before they click off and go somewhere else. So i have 30 something pages all listed on the left, which every culture can click into on there chosen product. It meant creating 30+ pages with 30+ links on every page 120+ photos 120 add to cart buttons+ telling each button what it did. setting up payment options. But it meant i can target every customer, no matter where they from, on the home page. once in that page they find what they want, they have the same list of options to pages on the page they are on. They dont want to go back to home page and start again. dont ever think your site is done, you can add update, tweak things every day as i do. Its never done sean sean44mc

Or you can also try freelancing projects from different freelancing websites like odesk and etc... addyj672
Well I feel, Business is like a sailing boat. You will surely have big waves or small waves. But do not forget you are in water, you will always have trouble. Some might be big, some might be small. Do not give it. Change the way you think. Think differently. May be something is lagging behind, so talk to your team members. Talk to your clients, ask them what they liked/disliked. And if you are an employee, i understand you time might be difficult. But this is not the end of the world. There are new companies opening everyday. They will need staff, the economic situation will go better. Till then hang in there. |
