A very interesting report on the BBC website this afternoon. Living wage is going to be increased by 20p meaning thousands of people within the UK will be receiving a wage increase. For people living in London the wage increase is 35p!

Apparently 3,000 businesses have signed up already including IKEA and EDF.

I personally think that this is brilliant! With the current increase in housing and food prices it is giving the working people of the UK a little bit of a push to carry on their hard work. This pay rise could even be put towards the saving towards a new business idea

What does everyone else think about this?

I'm guessing most people on the minimum / living wage will be on some sort of benefit aswell... which is going to be falling. And with the cost of living rising... I'm guessing those people on either will at most be able to treat themselves to another lick of the marmite pot......

Thanks,
Barney

Interesting point  I guess a lick of the marmite pot is better than nothing in this day and age. Don't forget people work hard to treat themselves, a cheeky drink on a friday night wouldn't go a miss, I'm sure you will agree.

Always amazes me, that people with very little always manage to have the biggest TV's, Sky packages, McD's breakfasts and that cheeky drink down the pub, yet they moan there is no money for food.

Hmmm - I blame Eastenders !!!

Clive

I blame all these new programmes that keep being introduced

Its always that decision whether its going to be that cheeky drink or X factor on the weekend.

My hands are tied
