This year's event is this Saturday, 3 December when we are being encouraged to visit the smaller independent retailers on the high street. Ironically, one of the sponsors is American Express whose card fees put off smaller retailers from accepting.
One of the few independent shops in my local town centre has expanded; it's one of those places where you may go to find an unusual present or to stock up on scented candles. However, the majority of smaller retailers seem to populate the craft centre set-up rather than be in town centres.
