Monarch announced today that they are scrapping credit card fees.  Media reports quote a saving of £60 for a family of four.   Comes into effect 15 December 2016 for bookings made on their website or through their call centres.  Will be interesting to see how Thomson, Thomas Cook and Jet2 respond.

This announcement comes shortly after BA announced the introduction of 1% credit card fees per ticket (capped at £20), effective 14 December 2016.  Virgin Atlantic recently scrapped their fees with the launch of their new website.

Thomson still wanted 1.5% when i booked with them recently so i simply used my debit card.

Mind you on the flip side, i'd rather be told that i was going to be charged against them "absorbing" the cost and merely passing it on to me behind the scenes.
