Should we all go electric now

Dear Sir                                                                                                       24 January 2017

Subject: Proposal of new North and South circular road LEZ zones

I am writing this letter to say even though it has been proven that diesel cars and taxis are by far much more a percentage of the London emissions, the mayor is still discriminating against private coach and bus companies. Does he look at the reports?

What is the point of anyone getting involved in consultations when it seems like their minds have already been made up on this issue? Or do we all go electric now?

We all agree with low emissions, but the targeting again of coach companies who have already paid large amounts of money towards new exhaust systems seems very designating, it seems harsh especially as its been proven that only 3% of coaches are causing the problem. Taxis will be able to receive grants for help with new engines but coach companies who carry vastly more passengers into London get nothing. Not fair in my opinion.

When will it end? Or will coach companies keep getting fined or charged for new euro engines or other systems. We have already now see the system’s that cost us thousands of pounds soon to be of no use so a waste of money. Something needs to be approached, so that every few years another new engine will need to be provided by the coach companies.

Yours sincerely,

Connelly Coaches

Thanks,
John

As someone who travels through London on a daily basis, I honestly believe that there needs to be a major re-think on the London bus. There are just so many of them and the majority of the time they have no more 1/2 a dozen passengers aboard a bus that can carry something like 80 odd passengers... I've seen up to 10 busses in a line travelling like this. But although these buses may well run on water or whatever else they claim makes them non pollutant, because they cannot move because of the size, no other traffic can move and it will be these vehicles that are polluting the atmosphere rather than the buses. The bike has definitely taken over from the bus, but they still keep chucking these tax payer subsidised public transport monsters out onto the road, not only that they are constantly advertising for drivers... Buses need to be made smaller to something like the shopper- hopper type or just banned... By and large I don't have any issues with normal coaches and it is very rarely they cause issues... But the London red bus, I think the days are numbered before there is a mass culling of them...

Thanks,
Barney

So basically pedestrianise the centre of London

Now that's got my vote. Londoners don't need a car any more because you can't get anywhere, and if you did get to your destination, there's no where to park!

Everyone starts walking or riding a bike. People get fitter, NHS saves a fortune in diabetes treatment, Council stops digging the road up, air quality gets better and Londoners finally start smiling

If you want to leave London, get on the train or Johns Coach
