Hi there, some quick qs, help politely requested and polite help greatly appreciated:
NON-UK PLUG SOCKET:
I know that it is a crime to sell an item with a non-UK plug socket in the UK.
1. Can a UK seller sell an item with a non-UK plug to buyers outside of the UK, and would it make a difference if the seller specifically bans UK sales of that item?
2. If exporting, does the plug have to conform to the destination country's standards?
3. Can the item be blocked at customs for non-comformity with the destination's local standards?
4. Can an auction house sell electronics within the UK that don't have a UK plug?
LIABILITY, WARRANTY:
If electronic items were bought at auction, described as new i.e. new oldstock for example:
5. Who gets sued (i.e. who is liable) if the item causes injury due to being faulty?
6. How can the seller realistically protect themselves from being sued?
7. What difference would a warranty make? What type of warranty should be given, and what are the minima and maxima for the warranty period?
8. Same as Qs 5, 6 & 7, but this time, the electronic item is acquired in used condition
