It is just like a advertisement which you usually shown in news paper, Television, on Air, etc. It will aware user of your service and invite them to visit your site. It is one type of announcement of your company and your services.

I have to say that there is a lot to be said for classifieds, I have been having some very good traffic from hotfrog and gumtree give them a bash and see what happens.

Its one of the fasted way to increase traffic of your website and it also brings only new visitors.

Thanks, this is a decent list to work from. It would be wise to remember that if you are a uk based company to advertise in the UK classifieds first, Traffic from the US will not be really of any benefit. I guess there are quite a few out there.
