What is Redirect website???

There are multiple reason why somebody might do this, a couple of reasons being a change of domain name, or wanting to move some webpages to a new domain.

To do it, the HTTP protocol can be used (in the case of a permanent redirect code 301 is used and that will cause the browser to go to a different location).

There are plenty of how to guides on Google rather than myself detailing it here....

A 301 redirect is like USPS mail forwarding for websites that moved. It say's "yea I lived here and now I live here". Or that's how I see it.

It also a very useful tool if you used your businesses name and discovered that it has no SEO value. You then get a keyword friendly url and then point the old domain to the new one. This is part of my standard SEO process. If your primary keyword phrase is in your domain you are doing very well.

Redirection of website :

Website Redirection require in many respect. When someone create new website and want to divert his old visitor on the new site. Redirection is also useful to shift the PR of one website to another. It is known by the permanent redirect 301.

Write Redirection code like this:

redirect 301 /old/old.htm [http://www....../new.htm]

/old/old.htm (the original folder path and file name)

[http://www....../new.htm] (new path and file name)
