Can anyone recommend a decent website monitoring supplier?
We currently use siteimprove.com who are great and can't fault them technically, but they are very pricey for what we are using them for.
What we need is content matching monitoring from multiple locations, with email and sms reporting, and ideally a dashboard or report tool that will give transaction times.
Seems to be plenty on the market, most US based, so wondered if anyone has any experience of any UK ones, or who does everyone else use.
Before someone states the obvious, the standard IP node up/node down monitoring that comes with all hosting companies isn't good enough.
We have used this website monitoring software before Thanks, Kevin.Wiles
thanks Kev. Probarbly ok, but website looks a bit 1990's which always puts me off, along with the 2008 testimonials ![]() Due to the lack of reccomendations, did some hunting around and signed up with these guys - www.site24x7.com I'm on their 14 day fully functional trial, which is a nice touch. Does what it says on the tin, fraction of the cost of our current provider, and they even provide a portal integration iframe, so you can copy and paste the monitoring console it into any web page. I've set it up on our admin backend for ease of access. Very impressed so far ![]()
Let us know what you think in 12 days ![]() Thanks, Kevin.Wiles

I loved siteimprove.com and we used them for ages, does everything you need, but they have just become uncompetitive. Been with site24x7.com now since last March and very happy with the service. Have it set up for 3 of our sites, and we get notified via email and sms if we have any problems. Monitoring is website content matching (nothing worse than a server up, but the websites hung!) and we have an auto escalation if an outage goes past 60 minutes. Very flexible, you can set up actions, ie if an alert happens, then do this.. or run that etc. Reports give you everything you need, and we run the web monitor in an iframe on our admin panel for convenience (although there's no need to do this). Costs us $153 per year for 3 URL's and a further $8 (I think) for extra URLs. So piece of mind for pennies! We have hardware, server and IP monitoring run from the hosting side, but 24x7 is great for the web layer. |
