Bank Holiday season - nightmare for business or welcome downtime?

In the UK, we are about to hit a series of bank Holidays, thanks to the festival of chocolate eggs and bunnies, some couple getting wed and a bunch of dodgy dancers skipping round a maypole.

So is it all doom and gloom for small business, with reduced sales, expensive staff on paid holiday, or is it a good excuse to have a break?

I suspect a lot of it depends if you have employees, if it is just yourself or if you work in the tourist industry!

Heres the Daily Mails verdict:

What does anyone else think?

both for me

its an excuse to have a break which i probably need but it does throw weverything out of sync too

if it wasnt there i would carry on as normal and so would my members, but they pay monthly wether i am open or not so financially i dont miss out from exisiting clients, but tend not to get new sign ups through the bank holidays

Well one things for sure it can't be doing the UK's economy much good as effectively a week has been lost. Enough tax revenue lost to build at least another 6 hospitals and pay for another 1000 police officers The only way it has effected me so far is the time it is taking to recieve credit and debit card transactions.

Thanks,
Barney

I dunno, with the VAT increase, the govt's probably coined it in from beer, bbq, and lawnmower sales

Now there's a bank holiday proof business, plumbers and sparkys.
