I had been with them for 3 and a half years and was impressed. However recently I placed my Critical Illness payout for my cancer diagnosis into the Debt Dr account to continue paying creditors and also to draw down for myself some money each month for essential household expenses. The debt counsellor who was supposed to look after my file tells me my money has disappeared. It is a crushing blow to someone who is facing chemotherapy (I had juhhst completed many weeks of gruelling daily radiotherapy.)

Ruby,

What is his name, if you can not give that, what area do you live?

Can I advise against putting your email addresses in these threads.

Unfortunately you are inviting every automated spam bot in the world to add you to their lists

Maybe PM each other, or point to a website with a contact form?

I put my email address because I don't understand what people mean by 'send me a DM.'

ahhh, ok, you have the option (after 10 posts) of sending or receiving a Private Message (or aka Direct Message).

If you left click your mouse over anyones username, you will see an option that says:
Send a private message to xxxxxx

Have done a screen shot attachment below.

You can enter your email address, just some friendly advice that's all, as we live in an age of spam

Hope that helps.

I have heard many sorrowful tales about this and other so called debt advisers.
you need to know that Citizens Advice is the first and only port of call for proper free debt advice-all these others will charge you fees and pretend to be your best friend-they are not-I have over 5 years experience in this area.
Also anyone with cancer can get help for free from Macmillan-who will pass them to debt specialists who give the best advice and help for free.

I think you misunderstood. I was in my time a TV executive and very, very successful but was ruined by illnesses and bad luck. I had long been a supporter of Macmillan for many, many years when I was rich and healthy. Re the CAB: long ago they told me my financial situaiton was way beyond their scope. I found Debt Dr through a much-trusted old friend.
Re cancer: In the 1990s and 00s I had invested in a high-end St James's Place critical illness insurance but in 2008-9 they did a 'ten year review' of thousands of clients and deprived us of our true cover -- mine was close to

Just so you know CAB has changed and whatever you were told CAB is much better placed than any of these cowboys-Debt Doctor included.I have stopped calls and brought complaints against all of the banks-they are vermin at the best of times.I have overseen many DMPS,IVAs DROs and bankruptcies. The only people recommended for debt is CCCS which is a charity-all the fee paying ones are a scam,I guarantee it. I trade derivatives and know a great deal about the world of money, and I see many people who have been suckered in by so called debt specialists. They have no magic bullets and frequently they 'forget' to pay the creditors. You need help? check out a proper CAB who certainly will not tell you it's beyond them. Sorry to hear they did not assist. Macmillan have a tie up with CAB, I know because I work for them! Feel free to contact me if I can help.

All these liars and crooks who take money to 'help with debt' are robbing people, and all they do is exactly the same procedure as laid down by OFT. They are clearly not capable of running their own business so how the hell can they be any use to people in a crisis? Those creditors will once again come hounding you,so please anyone here with debts,go to CAB for proper help where you will not be asked to pay for correct advice from people with years of experience-not some 19 year old geezer who is after a sales commission.
You have all been royally sh*fted by the debtdoctor, and your loyalty to them is misplaced.
I know there are hundreds of debt companies that open up and are closed down by OFT within months, but in the interim they have taken thousands of decent people for a ride. There is no magic to handling debt, but CAB changes tens of thousands of lives for the better every year.

Interesting and many thanks for your views. I am keeping in contact with the police who seem to be doing a good job so far.
