Yesterday I was asked to quote to put a new hot water cylinder in this place Went down early this morning, the entire job would take around 3hrs to complete and the price was around Thanks, Barney
So your insurance policy doesn't allow you to solder? I'm no plumber, but isn't that an essential requirement of the job? Joining/sealing pipes? Forking out another
The insurance company said that because the ship is a floating restaraunt the risk was to high and that if there was any sudden movement in the ship or a spark from the blowlamp then it would be possible to sink the ship. Well as it was a one of job I was quite happy to lose it. The crazy thing is I also have to let the insurance company know if we are working in a property over 5 stories high, but I cannot get a policy to cover above that level without first gaining the insurers consent, they don't charge me any extra for this but I do have to let them know... Thanks, Barney

Barney, You are definitely right to check all the information, as although it states on the 'internet sales platform' that you are covered as a 'gas engineer' or others it has a lot of heat exclusions and also increased terms and excesses for diff properties... going to a local broker or speaking to someone is probably much easier and although it may be a little bit more expensive, it may stop the shock of having problems in the future!!
I agree Zutou, the better the advice generally the bigger the premium/company may be. What I would like to say is the company I work for are slightly different in their approach. We actually offer a FREE review of your current covers where we look at what you have in place and then without contacting Insurers or making your existing broker aware we would put a proposal together and explain what we think you should have in cover and at what price.... then you have a very independent company who are working hard to offer the best advice, you are not paying for it and it also utilises the 'shopping of the market' that we all do without upsetting your current provider and as they used to say if the price is right and the service is there then you can make an informed choice. If you want any more details of who we are or how we can help then please Private Message me and I will send you some information. Thanks Steve |
