We've heard a lot about these businesses over the last few months or so and I thought this was an interesting summary....

Thanks. That's very interesting. I never realised it was that bad. Maybe I was being naive. Must be thankful.

When you see well known brands like that, it does make you stop and think about the current economical worries. Just goes to show that it doesn't matter how big or small a business you are......

It's very sobering reading, the high street has been transformed.

I wonder when they look at the post analysis in years to come, I wonder if there will be a common theme. Complacency? Over extending during the good times? Not reacting quickly enough to market conditions?

Or inevitable, unsustainable business models?

Well I think people are not spending full stop.

I have been much more careful with my weekly shopping switching to unbranded razors, even buying from poundland

Times are pretty hard all around.

I am focussed on protecting my kids and keeping the house etc.

even buying from poundland

Self confessed snob, I refuse to go in, so the wife goes in and puts the stuff in a Marks and Sparks bag to make me feel better

The weekly shop is alarming though, and if anything its forced us out of complacency and made us visit different shops. Buying a big bag of cat litter from somewhere like Pets at home and you save a couple of quid over Tescos, get the baby stuff from Asda instead of Tesco, and you start to see how much you are paying over the odds by getting it all from one supermarket.

I guess its the curse of the modern age, convenience and time management, but this comes at a cost.

Maybe this could be a bonus for the smaller independents as consumers buying habits shift?

Building the right foundation in business and evaluating the current trends could help to predict the future growth of that business.

This is bad. The downfall has definitely hit us. There are days when we have to make sure our expenses are not unceasing. How many times do you go for grocery shopping and when you cart reaches the billing table, you start to remove all the items that are not important.
How do we improve our situation?
Should we just start spending less and see if that works?
