SEO Moz hits major problems, but at least they are honest :)

Oh dear, anyone who uses SEO Moz may have noticed a lack of web crawler results. They have been utilizing the Amazon Web Services model, and to cut costs, have been using Amazons Spot instant pricing, which allows them to ramp up computing power for very little cost, assuming there is spare capacity...

Whoops, as Amazon ran out of spare capacity which then impacted the web crawler service.

But SEO Moz have been very open and transparent with their situation, so hats off to them, and they are hoping to have their service back up again by this Thursday.

Interesting seeing the comments people have left, the openness seems to have done the trick with only one person asking how paid members will be compensated

But it is a fascinating insight into large scale cloud deployments, and food for thought if you decide to utilize cloud services yourself.
