I am just wondering how many people on here swap skills between companies so say you need a photographer and he needs say a mechanic

and if so what websites do you use for this?

Thanks,

do you mean like how BNI does it?

So you know someone in most of the professions and if anyone you know needs a certain tradesman or service you just give out the number that person from the BNI group?

Suppose it's a bit like barter card (google it)

Not convinced personally, though have done a straight swop for services of similar value, but normally after I have been speaking to someone, rather doing anything formal via a 3rd party website.

I am always happy to recommend businesses/individuals that have provided me with a good service. As a small business I prefer to work with similar sized companies and individuals that share similar beliefs in service levels as I do.

But I have always been sceptical about referring/recommending people/businesses which whom I have had no dealings. So services such as BNI I don't really agree with, as after all - you are (more often than not) referring a service of which you have personally never used. If the service is not up to scratch - you have referred/recommended someone/a business which has let down your client/business associate/friend etc.

Agree. I don't like commission deals (for recommending specific companies) either so won't take them.
