I heard this on the radio this morning, and it gives us an amusing perspective of celebrating Christmas in summer. I, for one, have never left the UK at this time of year.

lol fantastic

It is weird having xmas in a hot country.

Had xmas 1989 in Ascension Island, 500 miles from the equator, traditional xmas dinner, then the fire section sprayed us all down with foam for a big foam fight, followed by a beach bbq and far too much beer.

As opposed to xmas 1997 in Saudi Arabia under canvas in the middle of the desert. Mind you, British ingenuity, 160 Brits attached to 4000 US personnel, come NewYears eve, there were 4000 sober Americans, and 160 completely bladdered Brits. Turned out each British tent had come up with a different way to make some booze, but we all kept it quiet Even our Commanding Officer was impressed.

Our military may be small, our kit outdated, but the British Squaddie can make booze anywhere...

happy days...

Growing up in Australia I never thought is odd of course, but I can understand why some people do.

I will say I just spend my first xmas in Michigan where I now reside and it is pretty cool to experience a white xmas when only seeing them on the movies all my life.

My mate lives in North Dakota, where it's pretty much a continual white winter! far too cold for my liking

I love the South Michigan weather.
You get all 4 seasons. Summers are hot but not too hot.
London from my experience doesn't get anywhere near as cold in the winter but it doesn't get anywhere near as hot in the summer either. I spend last summer there and can only remember one weekend where it was about 30 degs C.
I hired a boat and went out on the Thames, it was a good weekend just not enough of them.
