I thought it was just us that had an issue with our Natwest account, not realising it was a much bigger issue!

BBC News - RBS-NatWest problems continue into third day

For years, had great service with Natwest, then they recently announced we were being "sold" to Santan "bloody" Der (not my favourite bank) as they were handing all Natwest Business customers over to Santander.

Anyone else affected?

It looks as if Santander will be paying less money for the NatWest branches than originally agreed! They are in a strong position because the government wants to get some of our money back. Never trust the government with money as they always waste it (welfare state, NHS etc).

If you want business banking do not bank with a government controlled Bank. However it seems that non government Banks, Barclays and HSBC have just been downgraded by Moody's.

Nationwide are supposed to be offering business accounts soon. May be worth further investigation.

I hate all Banks lol

Not one ive spoken to recently about either personal or business accounts have inspired me with confidence.

Wouldnt mind so much if you could get away without having to rely so much on the bank to pay all my household bills & receive my wages, we could digress to trusting them with cheques and then them paying those in to the wrong account even though the names where totally different grrr !

** off to make a coffee.. **

Oh just tried logging on to Natwest - to be shown SSL connection error - apparently thats bad? seems their troubles are deepening not getting better!

Oh dear, I don't think I'd like to be working in the RBS IT Dept, or if I was the boss, maybe time to brush up on the CV

An apology from Stephen Hester, the group's chief executive, appears on the RBS website. "I am very sorry for the difficulties people are experiencing," he said.

"Our customers rely on us day in and day out to get things right, and on this occasion we have let them down. This should not have happened."

The computer software problem started late on Tuesday.

It reportedly arose when an attempt to install an update to RBS's payment processing software corrupted the entire system.
