The Windows 7 operating system is not very good BUT.......

Are you using Word 2010? If so do this:

1) File > Options > Language.
2) From there, you will have English (US), select it and remove it.
3) Then below that is a scroll box, go down to English (UK) and set it as default.

If you are not using Word 2010 what applications are you using where you are finding this American bias?

If you have known this customer for two years then I assume that she has always paid you.

What has changed this time? You probably caught her on a bad day so go back and talk to her.

It is not viable to go to small claims court for such a small amount. It may work against you as she could put a bad word out about you in the area.

I have a three year old Dell Inspiron laptop running Vista and it has worked very well apart from one occasion a few months ago.

The problem was similar to what you are experiencing but I managed to get into safe mode and system restore. Nothing improved for a few reboots and then it worked! I didn't do anything 'technical' so it was probably a machine thing!

Keep rebooting using different methods and it may sort itself out.

Before you do anything you have to know who your clients are. Who/what are you targeting? Narrow it down to a niche market and be specific.

Use both online and offline marketing methods. Test them all to see which of them work and then focus on the methods that work the best.

When you have clients ask for referrals and sell additional services to your customer base.

If you are an office based employee you are 'soft' if you eat your lunch at your desk. Get out, go for a walk, have egg and chips at your nearest cafe. Plan your new career working for yourself and being a free person.

It is clever marketing by Mars as chocolate is junk food and they know it BUT people cannot resist it.

Steve - I eat what I like including loads of chocolate and high calorie stuff but stay at 12 stone (6' 2"). If you exercise, play sports and don't sit around all day (not saying you do) you will keep getting through that door.
