Hi
I have a DELL laptop which is playing up when ever I boot it goes straight into start-up repair and then crashes so I cant boot it up.
I am not worried about any data on there but I cant get into safe more and I cant run the system restore either.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Its running vists
hmmmm do you have a recovery disc you could work from to try fix the broken windows files? Thanks, Dreamraven

Kevin, I have a three year old Dell Inspiron laptop running Vista and it has worked very well apart from one occasion a few months ago. The problem was similar to what you are experiencing but I managed to get into safe mode and system restore. Nothing improved for a few reboots and then it worked! I didn't do anything 'technical' so it was probably a machine thing!  Keep rebooting using different methods and it may sort itself out. andrewtomkinson
“Dell is best rather than Vista laptop brands.” Vista laptops? My dell has Vista Business installed.... Be that as it may, however, do you have any advice for the Kevin? he did ask for help about a specific problem and not whether dell was the best or not. (we already know it is  )Thanks, Dreamraven
@dreamraven madyworld is just a spammer@kevin what model of Dell Lap top? - if it is running vista it is a couple of years old at least. Regretfully none of my Dell laptops have lasted more than 3 years before getting serious hardware faults of different types. So don't rule out wither a disc issue or motherboard issue. I have wasted many hours trying to save my laptops, but eventually to no avail. edit: I missed that you said inspiron, so ignore my model question. Put a new hard disc in, rebuild from scratch, if still doesn't work, put it in teh bin and don't waste any more time. AlanF
