Blimey, even technology giants such as Microsoft are feeling the pinch!
Microsoft Makes Job Cuts - Search Engine Land
With Google Chrome finally beating Microsoft's Internet Explorer in terms of usage recently, the decline of PC's and the rise of the tablet, I wonder if the bubble has burst as it inevitably does for any these major companies... IBM, Nokia, Kodak...
From what I can see, Microsoft is moving away from the channel model to direct. So with Office 360 and various other services, they are offering it directly to compete with Google. They are now looking to produce their own tablet, and I can see them possibly producing their own laptop/PC. They have done really well whenever they have controlled the complete package/product. XBox is a good example of that. They entered the console area late in the day, with 2 major competitors fully established and became the dominant player. I also see them going towards the Apple model and doing both the hardware and software. They may lose market share, but they will be a big player as they have their hands in many pies. That's my opinion anyway. IBM did a good thing by moving away from the PC market. As far as I know they are a major player in the corporate IT/availability market place. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone is feeling the pinch a little. Ryan |
