Thing is you look at the scale of the amount of money they have allegedly owe and you do have to wonder how poor HMRC are.

From the ammount of letters I've had over the last 2 years from HMRC I'm suprised my handsome face is not gracing Flickr From the daily mail today most of these people were just bringing in millions of ciggarettes. You could argue that if the overall tax burden on consumers was reduced then there would be a reduction in the black markets. The same can be said for red diesel, plenty of vehicles driving around on the roads with this stuff in the tank....

As it happens I was given a bottle of Moet & Chandon only the other day from a customer who believe it or not I refused to charge for a simple job. However I'm sure the HMRC would say that I would need to declare this as payment in kind, I was tempted to open it last weekend when my normal 2 numbers came up on the euro lottery in fact it was 4 -
