Not really a surprise, but UK retail shopping and online shopping was down in Aug according to the beeb:
BBC News - Retail sales 'hurt by Olympics' in August

With everyone tuned to the Olympics, people were staying at home or buying less online.

For us, it's been quite a slow sales July/August comparable with last year, which we've put down to the Jubilee, Eurocup and Olympics. Hopefully September will now return to normality.

That said, we've seen an increase in mobile traffic, which I guess is people sat on the sofa

So what's everyone else's experience? Are things slowly returning to normal, or maybe you saw an increase in sales during the Olympics, and are bucking the trend!

It's been a tough month for us - the poor weather hasn't helped, of course. We always find trading is more of a challenge when there's a big event on and we haven't found an effective way to combat it. Hopefully the run up to Christmas will be ok.

Maybe as it is August, the online shoppers have gone away on holiday....You never know..... I'm betting that online shopping is up in December....Cos it's Christmas again
