Who creates Apps?

Could I design an app?

I have a cracking idea for a business app using the QR code technology which technically might already possible but the app would cut down from 3 things to do to 1 easy action, I'd use it, you'd use it, and I might make some Wonga off of it?

How does it all work?

*I have to buy angry birds on 3DS this year for the kids so I can get my phone back!

Take a look at this link : https://developer.apple.com/

Tells you what you can do. I think you need to buy the tools? ( I stand corrected) or you could maybe hire a dev online?

Who creates Apps?

Any competent professional coder/designer can create apps. All down to complexity and budget.

If you don't know any designers, or want to go the budget route, then somewhere like this can be a start...

But remember engaging any new designer is always a gamble if they haven't come recommended, and I'm a big believer in you get what you pay for

Thanks guys - Seems like a potential investment - what kind of money are people making from apps these days?

I'm not entirely sure to be honest. I guess it depends on the app itself in the end, and how you market it through itunes 9reviews etc.) and online?

Apps never made it off the to do list for me, so if it works out, let us all know, I'd be all ears

Just researching round at the moment to see what kind of if anything similar already has been produced and the reality of it all - I'll keep you posted.

This thread reminds me of the 14 year old boy who "researched mobile software programming in his local library and started creating his new application in November, 2010. It took him about a month to author 4,000 lines of his Bubble Ball game that crept to the top of free games list on Apple iTunes". - Courtesy of wikipedia.

So, as has already been indicated depends on the complexity of what you want! Keep us posted.
