Spoken with a few former Yell guys who have been critical of the HIBU brand. They claimed it had caused untold confusion internally and externally with clients, mainly because they moved their email system over to reflect the hibu name.

Does seem an odd move, and like or loathe them, yell is an instantly familiar brand with a lot of power and potential. Hibu means nothing to most people in the street.

Yes, you are right. This is quite controversial, but what we have now is a real-life lesson how to (how not to) build a brand.

Yes 27 missed calls over a 2 week period, they must have been desperate!!

Until I had an email from them I had never heard of HIBU (thought it was a character from some Disney film!!!) and I guess ask anyone in the street what it is and would suggest no one would know.

Could be the final nail in the coffin for Yell/Yellow Pages, don't think we ever removed the plastic vacuum seal of last years copy and trying to replace a well known name with something as odd a HIBU hardly makes sense.

Thanks,

There is a lot of competition from web directories now - Many with more modern interfaces than Yell's online presence.

Just because they're a household name, doesn't make them safe.. but blimey. You're right. How can they get away with that much debt?
