hmm, while reading about stories where agencies are calling for Google to be fined for their transgressions, it seems that Youtube might be a-changing again.

Google's Android unit has been negotiating with music companies to start a paid subscription music-streaming service akin to Spotify AB, according to people familiar with the matter.Separately, Google's YouTube video website is trying to obtain licenses from music labels to start a paid subscription service for music videos and potentially also for audio-only songs, these people said.

You can read the rest of the post here (from the wall street journal), I would love to hear your thoughts on this. Do you think the net needs another Spotify? Would the scheme work for Google, or wouldn't it?

LOL. I can understand that, I just think they have way too much time on their hands. Being the leader in everything doesn't necessarily mean you're the best out there. 'Tis like the Japenese proverb of the man trying to catch two rabbits at once. In the end he didn't catch either one.

Yes, Google is a great search engine, but it does not necessarily mean I am impressed with all their services.

Definitely. I just think they need to work on their other services before embarking on all sorts of new projects. They focus on the new projects and in the end, their other services suffer because of it.

Google is just trying to get heir hands into everything. They are doing well as they are and everyone loves them. I still don't understand that want for more. Its damaging their brand name gradually.

True, but if you think about it, what business owner would solely focus on one thing/product/service? When there are so many other ways they can improve their business and their profits? I have been thinking about this and in terms of business growth, the decision could well be viable, but they need to focus on their projects that are lacking and that are less popular with their clients and prospective clients perhaps? It would make them a more well rounded company in the end methinks.

Google will snap up anything that they see will be direct competition to them and it makes sense to do this. Google hold all the cards and that's never going to change until someone buys Google? (never gonna happen)
