I have been using Quora for a while to see how it can help us gain more visibility and enhance our marketing. Now, I started to see the idea behind it, but I still feel insecure on what strategy to apply with it.
Does anyone use it? What works best for you?

Interesting, this has been on my "to do" list for some time. I joined up, but haven't done anything.

I'm assuming the principle is similar to forums, ie you become known for a certain area. You do see a lot of well known SEO and marketing peeps on there from time to time answering questions, so its a platform to take seriously.

Anyone else actually using it or have any good/bad experience?

Yes, it is similar to the forums, but it seems closer to the former Linked in questions and answers, but offering more features. I will continue to research how to use it for the best of our business and once I have a good strategy I will get back here to share.

Actually quora is used for questions and answers. I have used it and it works, what you have to do is to answer different questions as well such as movies, music and some other questions. Quora is good site for suggestions, ideas and for marketing as well.

Yes, but can you give some ideas on how to promote your business in there? For example I am answering many questions, buy I am using my real name and I am not mentioning the business? Am I allowed to post links towards our site or direct users to visit it?

Thanks for info about Quora.

It sounds as if it might be helpful for businesses like mine where lots of people want advice, often don't know where to find it and may want a paid-for service after getting some free help.

There's a MyBuilder.com trades site that seems to operate on similar (?) principles. I know I warmed to the trades "advisors" on it after receiving help with a technical window problem. I'll be going back to the site to ask what type of contractors I need to sort out another project - and the "advisors" may well be asked to quote!

Hi there again, together with Quora, I found this website
Where you find skilled people - SkillPages
Does anyone use it? Is it worth it?

Haven't really used Quora yet, but have been considering t for a while. Do they allow you to actually promote your business there? Is it worth the time? Because of what I saw, it looks quite complicated and would take me a while to get accustomed to it.

You can do this by answering the question related to your business though anchor text. And give generic information of your business.

Yes, I am being very careful with self promotion, as I had a few warnings before (on other places), so I am trying to avoid this. Does anchor text work for you?

I had a look at the site and it seems like it could be useful, but I don't think anchor texting is the way to go with this. Call me a little medieval, but I would take the safe route with this and work on your profile that everyone sees, instead of trying to spam a post with links, which would run the risk of being removed, or worse, your profile.

I see a lot of people giving out advice with sites like these, particularly yahoo where they tell you to anchor text the bejeebers out of an answer so that you have quick live links running. I just think that there is a much better way of handling it than using it merely for anchor text and SEO. I can see a genuine marketing opportunity in it.

What I would do, is fill out my profile, and use it to add information about the company I work for. First thing that will happen there is that people will associate me with the company. Then the tricky part. Establishing myself as an authority of sorts. Once people can associate you with a company, they start looking at what you write and the answers you give. And reputation is then worked out accordingly. I would also not stay in one particular niche. I would help where I can and answer anything from gaming to rocket science, if I can find a decent answer online (researching). It also gives people the impression that you truly care and want to help out, enforcing your profile just that extra little bit. If you can go that extra bit to help someone find an answer or make a decision, they will thank you (most often) and people see this.

After all that, people will be curious (if not from the get go), and they will look at your profile, and if your profile is interesting enough, or makes them even more curious, you have more visitors, and if they are out there looking for what you sell, you would have more targeted traffic you can make conversions out of.

my 2c, and IMHO

Thanks,
