Andy Green will attempt to break his own land speed record next year, needing to go faster than 763mph.

He actually wants to go over 1000mph in 2016

I think the reason is people want to break barriers, overcome the obstacles and go one step further. It's the same as with the entrepreneurs. They've decided to quit their day jobs and take risk to build something different.

Sir Edmund Hillary asked why he climbed to Mt Everest, he replied "because it was there."

Sometimes the very idea of reaching beyond your limits is what drives us forward!

Yea i am, but this is literally costing millions and has no real benefit to anyone except those getting in the record books.

Least in F1 you can see the technology being used in road cars in the future, in fact some already use previous tech from years gone by.

Cant see a road car being fitted with a RAF typhoon jet engine anytime soon lol
